I've never seen that fee on my parents/grandparents phone bills nor is it on my phone bill.
Just another money grabbing attempt. If there's any local fee's it's called city tax. -- Mac Chatter »www.macchatter.net |

An at&t spokes person also said in a statement later that day, "We will soon be adding the executive overcompensation fee to your bill." The spokesperson went on to say "We have been footing the bill for this for 100 years but not passed this charge onto the consumer until now. Just look at the savings the consumer has received over the years of not having that fee. This new fee is to help at&t remain competitive in the heavily regulated industry and keep costs to the consumer low" |

an article on here the other day where, "AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson today stated the company is seeing a slowdown in the consumer landline and broadband business."

I don't think a company has a right to pass on every cost of doing business to a customer because there are some costs that a customer doesn't incur on the business that they should be responsible for.
Businesses are supposed to have expenses, yes, but if they have more expenses than they have income from customers, either they need to get more customers for more income, or they need to cut expenses. Customers shouldn't have to pay for corporate mismanagement or abuse or flat out stupid decisions made by management that didn't pan out. Or corporate fleecing.

But if they leave AT&T where will they go for their telephone service? I doubt T-Mobile or Verizon will be any better. |

i love it.. instead of actually realizing there is a cost of doing business... keep tacking on all there overhead costs to the customers. like grocery stores charging customers for bags for their groceries.. or charging a fee to use a shopping cart or portable basket. (oops shouldnt giveout any ideas) next is the fee to replace telephone poles that are weathered/dry rotting |

just as irritating of ordering something mail-order AND paying sales tax in addition to shipping fees.. part of the attraction of mail-order is to avoid paying one or the other-- or getting such a good deal that it doesn't matter.. which has NEVER been the case with at&t.. which leads you with the choice.. NOT BUY THE SERVICE. |

- Under usage fee (you didn't make enough calls) - wait, I think that already exists as a 'shortfall fee'. - Anti-competitive fee. The fee absorbed to attempt to keep AT&T anti-competitive by paying money to FCC - Uverse fee. All those VRADs, and very few customers - someone has to pay for it, and it can't be shareholders - Evesdropping fee (CALEA) - Internet piracy program fee (AT&T will push for regulatory on this so that they HAVE to collect it).

This is just plain old extortion! If we want any phone service from anyone, we will have to pay these "fees". Someone needs to step in and fix this, unlike other businesses or services where you can actually have a choice, or even drop the service if you don't want to pay the so called "fee". Even though it is only .50 a month, it still adds up to a boat load of free profit. $hit one of these days we will be paying a fee to offset their corporate tax, if we don't already, end of rant -- BlooMe |

Unless its a mandated government fee/tax, which should be shown as a line item charge, I strongly object to other non-mandated charges being shown as line items.
If they need to raise their rates, let them have the nerve to announce a rate increase.
Disguising what amounts to a rate increase in these other line item charges should be against the law.

Cost of business has always been past to the consumer or else they would not be making money. It is usually included in the price. The price of anything includes the costs of doing business for any company and when costs go up - so does the price. Most of the time folks either see a sudden increase in the price, smaller packaging (less product for the same price), or added fees (fuel surcharge anyone?).
It is a reason why Vonage is not making money along with scores of other companies. |
