| Treating the symptoms, not the disease You know, I like how all of this "filtering" business allows governments to conveniently ignore the fact that terrorism is a political problem that the "radical" websites are a manifestation (not a cause) of.
If the US and UK were to get out of the Middle East tomorrow, they would, without a doubt, take the wind right out of the sails of Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. The constant meddling of the US and UK in the Middle East is the biggest recruiting tool that was ever handed to the Bad Guys.
Instead, we get these half-assed proposals that treat the symptoms of the disease, without actually treating the disease itself. Awesome! Sounds like a good way to keep the "war on terror" going in perpetuity. | |

| Re: Treating the symptoms, not the disease Radical leaders have been clear that the problem is not the US and UK in their country, it is the fact that we infidels need to be exterminated. Wind in their sails is the hot wind of these savvy leaders who, like Hitler and others, have great following. We pull out our troops from helping those who are explicitly asking for our help, and we only doom those to extermination before we get much more attacks.
Use some intelligence: look at the papers and listen to the rants of these leaders. They want Islamic law over the UK. They advocate bombing and pushing Israel into the sea (already doing the bombing so what would you expect?). They have been attacking the US for decades, and actually on US soil! I do know of *many* attacks recently on UK soil as well as other countries around the world.
Ignorance should be painful, but instead we subsidize the stupid to keep them happy, healthy, and stupid. | |
