For instance, how many reports have you read about speed tests over the internet that break new records all the time, followed by QQing in the comments on this site. |

Because installing to MDUs is still expensive. All this did was negate the labor of having to install conduits through the entire MDU. |

News Flash - FiOS is already deployed in part of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
Edit: I'm sorry - I forgot to add the Bronx and Manhattan too. So, they're already offering internet and phone in parts of all 5 boros. |

Will deliver high speed Internet. Cost be bit/per/second is very low. Hopefully price for basic package will also be very low. More people will be able to afford high speed access.
Cheap high speed access will encourage companies to locate. Possibility adding new jobs.
It is a little like asking what was the benefit of the Internet highway system. It had profound effect on culture and economy. I have every reason to expect high speed Internet will also have profound effect.

Just because it can go everywhere, doesn't follow that it will.. Verizon is notorious of redlining the most profitable locations FIRST, then working it's way down the totem pole.
Are you really serious that they will wire up the mdu apts of the Morrisania section of the Bronx over row homes in Mill Basin Brooklyn or Cadman Plaza? |

I've had MDU FiOS for nearly a year now, our ONT is one building over where all the phone lines come into our section of the complex. Kind of annoying to know you have pure fiber, but can only access it through VDSL hardware. Yet it still pulls a perfect 15/2 everytime I bother to check.
We're moving to a detached house (ounce again) in 4 months, then I'll be saying hello to 15/15 GPON fiber! |

Actually, they already have in Spanish Harlem. Not exactly Trump's neighborhood yet it is getting more and more FIOS deployed every day. |
