Wow

134 Billion to the country a year if we had a Universal Broadband plan implementation.

Re: Wow

And it has been said it wuld only cost $150 bil to give everyone broadband. So in one year you get almost all the money you spent on it. So why isn't this getting done?

But that is an ESTIMATE put together by an organization that is pushing for expanded broadband. Not exactly a disinterested party. And about 90% of their estimated savings comes from new jobs. A number I have some doubts about.

Surely you can't think it's GOOD for America to be behind in broadband? I don't know you have doubts. I bet 100 years ago someone like you would say "I highly doubt this new fangled phone and electricity will bring new jobs"

Yes the report is full of marketing terms. Based on all the data they procured from Connect Kentucky, a proven model.

They got 89% deployment of Kentucky, not to shabby for a state that is mostly rural. I havent been there in while but from what I remember, even the citys are rural. Its kind of flatlandish so the data may be way off for the Sierras

Why? The greed factor! Those who already HAVE don't WANT those who don't to have! Besides, if everyone had universal broadband, who would pay Comcast and Time Warner their gouged out rates for their packet filtered broadband?

Xohm

I hope they can get service here soon. I might finally have a replacement for my landline. The rumors of $60.00 unlimited mobile/home voice and data are enticing.
