Anyone that does even a cursory examination of GoDaddy's history should know that if you plan your website to be anything, and I mean anything, that the neocon establishment would consider questionable, you'd be better served by going elsewhere for your service. As a test, if you think your website would be criticized by Rush Limbaugh, don't use GoDaddy. |

1 edit | GoDaddy can go to hell!
My brother hosts my website, but he registers all domains through GoDaddy, including mine. I'll be moving the registration at expiration of its current term. I objected when he first registered it there, but it was too late after the fact to do much about it.
ISPs, especially GoDaddy, need to take a step back, and remember what fucking country they are doing business in. |

Does this mean that GoDaddy can be held liable for remarks made by their clients? One is forced to wonder: They took site A down, but left site B up... does that imply that they endorse site B? Sounds like dangerous business to me. |

GoDaddy is an independant company, free to server whom they choose.
I am an educated consumer, free to purchase from whom I choose.
I am an IT Manager and Consultant, who chooses which providers serve my customers, some of them of note.
I am an American Citizen, free to use the power of my voice to notify everyone I can of GoDaddy's practices.

But in there defense, if this guy is using shared hosting 99.9% of all other webhosts would of done the exact same thing. Anytime a website starts using excessive resources they'll get shut down. I'm sure he'll have no problems once he moves the site to a dedicated server. -- "I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies." I love how this attempted shutdown simply gives RateMyCop.com more publicity. I know it's the first I've heard of it. |

I just went to ratemycop, and was able to get on and click on the links. It apparently waits a few seconds before freezing the page you're on, and if you click on something "really quickly", it lets you through. -- Microwave and RF Components at www.ohiomicrowave.com |

GoDaddy's is so intentionally vague it gives them the legal ability to do pretty much whatever they see fit:
Universal Terms of Service for Go Daddy Software and Services...Section 5...NO UNLAWFUL CONDUCT OR IMPROPER USE..."...Go Daddy may also cancel Your use of the Services, after thirty (30) days, if You are using the Services, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion, in association with spam or morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will include, but not be limited to: activities designed to defame, embarrass, harm, abuse, threaten, slander or harass third parties..."
Seems pretty UN-vague to me. They don't want to be sued. If you think you are hosting anything that even *might* be construed as objectionable (as this guy should know his content is, if he has any common sense at all), go elsewhere...oh, and don't try to be cheap, pay up for a dedicated server if you're going to be using excessive amounts of bandwidth.
They can do whatever they want with their company, including deciding what they think is objectionable. It pays to read the TOS before signing up. -- 10,706 DEADLY TERROR ATTACKS SINCE 9/11~~TEAM DISCOVERY Can't feel you anymore, don't need you anymore, don't believe you anymore, I don't need you anymore

I surfed on over to ratemycop.com and it seemed to work just fine, except all the police departments I'm familiar with had "no information available".
I really don't see where a web site like this would be anything but a place to beat up on cops.
Folks that have positive interactions often tell the officer's superiors or local politicians. People who have negative interactions with police either sue, or post smear messages on the internet.
I'll be the first top acknowledge the country has more than it's fair share of crooked cops, but there are plenty of decent cops out there doing an honest job that probably won't get a fair shake on a web site like this.
Not that I don't support this person's right to run said web site, and not that I don't think Go Daddy sucks balls for pulling it, but just had to throw my 2 cents out there.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for it, so be it... -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power
