Hope he gets MANY years in jail ....

.... but since he pled guilty and promised to show feds where he hid his money, he undoubtedly got some deal. I doubt he will spend more than a year or two in jail.

Yup

He won't go to a FCI or USP. He's headed to camp to live in a dorm style environment with other low level offenders.

Justice...

Justice would be gettign him to go clean out a few mailboxes, removing spamware and spyware on systems and having him see the actual damages he caused people.

Putin ghim in jail will only be a preventive measure.

Why is the government going after a businessman?

Should corporations be allowed to do what they want?

It's just spam.

I think this is blown way out of proportion, spam is not some serious threat, unless you are a complete idiot and believe the Viagra advertisements. I think he should do 1-2 years MAX, and give back all of the money. What is this country coming to...

Who cares if he gets prison time or not. If he does, someone else will take his place. If he doesn't he'll start right back up again.

They aren't cutting off the head of the snake. If the government truly wants to stop spam they need to take out the companies paying people like him. But they don't.

Why?

Wrong, this amount of money that this activity costs businesses in order to prevent alone is worth puting him in jail for 100+ years!

Spam is a serious threat. It wastes bandwith (upwards or already there spam accounts for 80% =/- of all email), not everyone is savvy enough to clean up the mess left behind in it's wake, i.e. spyware, parasites, and virii, and even root kits. If that isn't a serious threat I don't know what it is.Oh, I almost forgot,we didn't ask for it!Peace

DING DING DING!!!!!! WE HAVE A WINNAR!!!!!!!

Just like illegal aliens. Sending them back does nothing. Start putting fines on the companies that hire them and see how fast they stop coming here.

 The Dude was broke?

The Article said: "The fact of the matter is, he's broke," said Troberman, pointing out that Soloway is named in a default judgment of more than $10 million in Oklahoma and owes another judgment to Microsoft.

I am sure the Guy transfered his most important assets & if not at least he got an extended vacation @ taxpayers expense.

I say "Hang him by his go-nads and force feed *see pic* for a couple of years.

Alright you do have a point, but it just seems like its going to be yet another endless war(the war on spam). And its something that they cant prevent. No matter how many people you throw in jail, or for how long, The profit is there to be made.

This sums it up right here.

The email system is flawed. We are using a system that was created 20+ years ago. Spam is a monster problem and placing this guy in prison will do nothing to stop it. Sure, his spam is gone, but we will have more people pop up to take his place.

The Judge in this case, Marsha Pechman, has a history of fairly tough sentences, even in plea bargains, and against recommendation of other federal agencies.
Since he's claiming backruptcy (mostly due to unpayed judgements in other cases) both the fed's and the Judge aren't likely to be swayed.
I'd guess 10-20 years, out in 7-10 if he's good (not really his forte)

I agree it is horrible how crazy our government gets as it would seem its goal is to imprison all of its citizens. There is no reason at all for such a long prison sentence as people seem to forget the idea is to teach a person what they did is wrong and set them on the right path when released. Non violent crimes like this should never see a jail term longer than a 2 or 3 years.

The only good SPAMMER is a dead Spammer !

They should hang this scumbag by his nuts and beat him with a 2 x 4 for a month, then throw his arse in prison for 25 years. But they won't.
