Sat stuff is cool. I'd always wondered exactly where all these sats are, and then I found a cool NASA java app that will show you exactly where most of the sats are (in scale!) in real time! Check this out:
»science.nasa.gov/realtime/jtrack···k3D.html
What I do is make the window a little bigger (fullscreen), zoom out a little, right click and center over North America. The big "ring" of sats all around the earth are all the geostationary sats. The click Sattelle>Select and pick from one of the DirecTV birds from the list (or any other sat that seems interesting). Then select Options>UpdateRate>1/4second and then Options>timing>x100 and be amazed |

First off megadeath, you dont have "5" watchable HD stations, Dish network does have a good amount of HD, but I see you are here to just bash a company because its the internet and you can hide behind that. If you are that unhappy about your service please choose another
Now about this article, It needs to be updated as SES president has put out a statement saying they are cofident that they can get the satellite into its orbit. It was off yes, but not by a unmountable amount of space
go here: »www.satelliteguys.us/dish-networ···nts.html First you will see Dish network filing a form-8k with the SEC, then read through the thread a bit and you will see the SES presidents comment, so everything looks to be good for now (just delayed, and how long who knows!). |

Well Dish Network, you keep slipping on your promises to expand your HD programming. With the failure of the AMC-14 bird on Friday, you just sealed my decision to go over to DirectTV. |

| you need to read my last reply, the satellite has not failed, in fact it is being put in its proper orbit, I am not saying not to go to Directv, but you have to remember first off this wasnt Dish's satellite just one they were renting, and as far as SES and Dish is concerned its still alive and well...just alot of misinformation out there. |

I hope they put a lazer on the directv new satillite to blow away the competition. Maybe thats their reason for the delayed launch. =D |

So my question is who pays? Seems silly but I am curious. Is the Russian launch group and or there insurance company liable? |

you would have to have some serious inside contacts and I dont have that. but from everything I am reading, with the satellite in "space" I dont think launch insurance would be good for this, I woudl think they need to work out a deal with the insurance company for lost life and usage (moving the satellite to its orbit will use a good chunk of its fuel and decrease the lifespan. |

What they have said is that they are looking to put the satellite into its correct orbit. However this will most likely use a significant amount of the on-board fuel which will reduce the usable life of the satellite - maybe by too much to be of use. Another consideration is one of insurance. The satellite owner may decide it is better to just "crash" the satellite and take the money.
The good news for Dish is that they haven't lost any real money even if the satellite is lost totally since they were going to lease it, and although they had spent money up-front to modify it that portion was insured too. |

More than likely whatever insurance company SES Americom has insured AMC-14 with. It wasn't released into the correct transfer orbit, but by using a sizable amount of the satellites own fuel it may reach it's intended orbit. So it may not be a full payout, if they can manage that. If not they'll probably do a deorbit burn on it and collect the full insurance value.
Dish Net has only leased AMC-14's transponder capacity. So while this will delay their plans, they're not on the hook for the botched launch or satellite.
Here's a story about it over at Spaceflight Now. »www.spaceflightnow.com/proton/amc14/ |

This is a disaster for Dish Network. They are already wayyy behind Directv and they don't need this. |

That would be just about right for Comcast. More lies. D* Tv should run commercials where they reveal the source of Comcast's programming. A row of dishes behind their offices. |

I own the service I can say what is true.
Do you have DISH? If not go away.
If so list all the great HD channels you pay $20 a month for.
I admitted it was my mistake, so don't give your so high on the horse speech.
I am stuck for another 12 months with them, yes my fault and I am admitting it but that doesn't change the truth. -- "Action does not equal Achievement" |

Pretty cool link. I played around on there viewing the different satellites. I truly had no idea that there were so many satellites in orbit! Honestly amazing! |
