Where's my 2 dollars?

Most likely another casualty of credit crunch that is currently going on.

That's not the issue here.

The issue is that the company which won the contract is failing to meet it's obligations.

Apparently, it's SOP for this company....

This is SOP for any company dealing with government agencies and pols. They can't get approvals to place APs on lightpoles. Or in Trenton's case, Trenton reneged on promise to be a lead tenant, etc, etc. NOTHING ever goes on schedule when dealing with local pols. Why do you think that Verizon and AT&T and others wanted laws passed allowing state franchises? SO that they didn't have to deal with all the nonsense of local politics.

Not quite.

You should really add a IMHO in front of that. How often do you deal with any contracts - put out to bid or off of the OGS? Can you define what the NY OGS is without doing a google search?

I deal with contracts - for a government agency - and we do not tolerate any practices like that. If you cannot meet our requirements/schedule, we find someone else who will.

There has been nothing said that E-Path is having an issue with any part of the government - it does not state why they are not meeting their deadline.

Long Island?

If they are looking for taxpayer money to support them why the heck did they choose Long Island?... We are already taxed to the brink of bankruptcy!!...

Did you read the article - let alone KathrynV's synopsis?

The goal was to cover 750 square miles of Long Island with a Wi-Fi network that would be entirely funded by the private sector
Newsday article:
would build a $150-million Wi-Fi system to cover 750 of the Island's 1,200 square miles without a dollar of taxpayer funds.

Yes, and I also read the next sentence:

As we’ve seen with the failure of similar projects across the nation, these networks just don’t get built without taxpayer money to support them.

contact cablevision

Why cant nassau and suffol kcounties just use cablevision. They where one of the companies that bid.

They already have wifi in the huntington village area (yup free for cablevision subscribers) and the port jeff area so they would just expand on what they have already.

BUt like other government stuff they never do what makes sense.

Also if you need free internet suffolk libraries have free wifi (thanks to cablevision giving out free connections to schools and libraries).
