1 edit | I would take uverse over time warner cable any day in my area. of course if i could get dish i would too.
U verse support has actually been quite good where time warner is sure to tick off whoever calls. Time warner is known to have long holdtimes, rude people, and a reputation of NOT getting things done, or understanding the problem. At least in this area.

Let's not forget that AT+T did a few things to improve their broadband revenue in the first quarter.
* AT+T offered speed upgrades to more people.
* AT+T increased the price of broadband across the board by $5/mo.
* AT+T deployed more U-verse installations.
And I'm sure there are other factors.
Some factors that have or will impact their broadband revenue are:
* Several customers were offered 1 to 2 year plans with discounts so people could keep the pre-increase prices by paying for long-term plans instead of monthly.
* In several cases, people are only getting a marginal improvement from the upgrades they chose. This may come back to haunt AT+T since the marginal improvement is due to lines that are too long in the first place or lines that should/will need line maintenance to keep the customer happy at those speeds. Offering an upgrade and not being able to follow through is also a problem. Dangling a carrot in front of someone and then yanking it away makes for very unhappy customers. |

Others are enjoying technology of the future yet people around here don't even deserve DSL. I love this company and their motives.
Let's fire another 5,000 employees while we're at it. Maybe they'll take the money they save and either develop U-Verse quicker or at least get outlying townships some remote terminals...or wait...that would be the good thing to do.

If you've been a customer long enough, you might have a "grandfathered" package that is not subject to price increases. I'll be surprised if you have Elite for $30/mo like it was being offered before the price increase earlier this year. I suppose it's also possible you've slipped through the cracks in AT+T's billing system. |

Sometimes all it takes is an alternative being 'promoted'.
Not everyone is always happy with cable (grass is always greener on the other side, so to speak).
The biggest problem that I have with Uverse is that I would have to order TV service to get Internet, then 'cancel' the TV service afterwards.

Didn't AT&T say that the price increase is only in the lower tiers of the internet speeds and not Elite? I'm on the year contract and haven't seen a price increase because of this. |

They do have a monopoly, even if you have a choice for DSL. They control the wire line and any ISP has to buy the circuit from ATT.
In my area ATT has been raising the wholesale prices to the local ISP's and lowering their own to the public to kill off the competition.

What's funny about this is I recently read a story of an Indian IT firm having to "outsource" back to the United States, because all the jobs going to India has pushed up the cost of labor there by quite a bit...wish i could find that again. |

I have been a customer less than 1 year at this point. When I signed up they made a very clear point that there was not a contract involved.
