| bungee jumping why don they tie a bungie cord to their feet and that way they dont hit the ground!!!
i mean if you have safety harness in place then nothing should happen. unless you are deliberatly ignoring any safety protocols or using equipment that is not in satisfactory condition, or is not the correct equipment for the job then you should be ok
i work under cars all day but we dont try to lift a semi with a 4000 lbs lift and we make sure all safety mechanisms are in good working condition. regualr maintenece -- There is no such thing as stupid questions, there is only stupid people

Tower Mishap Claims Three Lives Date posted: 2006-06-02 The tall steel fraternity was rocked this week when three of its own lost their lives at the base of a 1,500-foot TV tower in Iowa. »www.tvtechnology.com/dailynews/o···?id=4002
Rope Failure Indicated in Fatal KHIN Tower Fall »www.tvtechnology.com/dailynews/o···?id=4227 ****************************************************************** DON'T CLIMB ALONE!
If a tower worker is suspended in his harness, he must be rescued in a hurry. We train our people how to get an injured or unconscious climber off a tower. During the tower drills, while the "victim" is waiting to be rescued, he can discover in a hurry how uncomfortable the harness becomes. The "victim" has to keep moving to avoid circulation problems. In the case of an actual suspended fall, the climber's co-workers can at least prevent suspension trauma by assisting him over to the structure and relieving the pressure. Suspension trauma is a real problem we have to face and the best step toward prevention is to avoid climbing alone. **************************************************** A TOWER CLIMBER'S SAFETY HARNESS CAN KILL AFTER IT SAVES
This authoritative government web site will open your eyes to an unimaginable problem with riggers' safety harnesses. The very devices designed to arrest a fall can kill a climber in a matter of minutes due to a curious phenomenon called "suspension trauma" that has nothing to do with the jerk force exerted by the arrest itself. | There is a subtle but significant difference between Most dangerous job and jobs filled by the dumbest people.
The wireless tower job is the latter. All the deaths were due to not following well established and LONG STANDING safety protocols.
It is the migration of the stupid moving from low paying jobs to "higher paying" that are more dangerous.
It is the same sort of migration we see now from low paying jobs to "network jobs" with certificates from A+ and tech schools. Now we have a lot of people in networking who really should have maxed out at "would you like fries with that".
Network tech is the diesel repair school of the 21st century. "At Apex tech when you graduate you get a job and your own set of professional tools"

| fooey ok, what is the purpose of this article? where is the secretive tower climbers union behind it all? I say, they aren't getting paid enough, make a dramatic article over something that doesn't even have high volts wire lines (r.i.p. j- I am sure the 14 bucks an hour was worth it to death) Friends like my dead friend J who worked in real dangers should have these articles. tower people get a great view without the volts.... Can't they say "hey gas prices are way up, we need money." Why Lie? like a 5 year old with wrong reasons to cry. We all know the dangers just by pictures for the most part. flying in a plane is even more dangerous... | |
