Say NO to proprietary

Qualcomm should be put out of its misery. It is reponsible for the mess in the USA (and canada) wireless incompatibilities because it shoved its own proprietary mobile technology (CDMA) down the telco's throaths instead of having the world standard GSM technology. (ok, AT&T has switched to GSM now, but Verizon/Sprint are still on the qualcomm stuff).

It is bad enough the USA government prevents the use of the world standard frequencies, reducing the number of handsets available in north america.

Qualcomm could survive in making chips that support the world standard, and they could participate in world standard evolutions. It shouldn't try to develop its own proprietary standards.

Re: Say NO to proprietary

Wake up Brits! Qualcomm will come in and DRM all your TV so you have to buy their equipment. DVB-H to me at least is a fair standard that allows you to get your media the way you want it.

MythTV and Freevo users should also be against this.
