Limewire?????? Are you kidding?

What in the hell are you talking about? Limewire might be the most installed p2p app now a days, but to call it the most used Bit Torrent client is a bit off. Only recently did I notice limewire HIJACKING my bit torrent files with their new version they put out. But that was quickly fixed. I would LOVE to see where this information was gathered.

Spyware loaded??

Isn't uTorrent loaded with some form of spyware? I know it infected my machine the last time I tried to load it up about a year ago or so. Haven't dared try it again since. I liked the interface and how it handled, but it messed up my machine rather well at the same time.

Did I just get a bad release or was this happening once upon a time?

Azureus only 5.31%?

Now I find that surprising.

Also, check out the "Other" category; 29.21%. I wonder how many apps are hidden in that figure.

Re: Limewire?????? Are you kidding?

LOL... I was thinking the same thing... until this article I didn't know limewire even did torrent traffic :S.

That network is so full of low quality audio / video... combined with loads of viruses. Garbage... complete garbage.

Re: Spyware loaded??

Utorrent is very portable and unbloated with any spyware. If you think you received spyware from it in the past... you either are mistaken and received it from somewhere else... or you downloaded it from somewhere that WASN'T the official utorrent website.

uTorrent for Mac?

Any chance of this happening anytime soon? I'm not thrilled with the current clients for Mac.

Limewire is not a BitTorrent application

While it has been the most used p2p application, it is not
a BitTorrent client. It connects to Gnutella.

Yes, it is a bittorrent client. I didnt believe it myself, but it says so right on the front page.

seems like they added bittorrent support as "ME TOO" feature. :/
but it's always been gnutella network app.
linked article is referring to "P2P Market share", which is not exclusive to bittorrent.

Re: uTorrent for Mac?

What's wrong with using Transmission or Tomato Torrent?

uTorrent for OS X (Intel Macs only) has been in development since 2005...no public betas so far.

You could always try running it under Darwine, but I don't see the point in that.

I agree but I always find it amusing when a search for something like "Palchebel's Canon in D" brings back a result with a 213 B file titled "(GENiUS) pachelbels' canon in d *CRACKED* - uncensored!@!" so I can finally hear the piece with all of the features enabled, including the "dirty" parts.

I don't seem to have any luck with Transmission. I'm not happy with my transfer speeds at all (yes I know it could be my seeds).

Re: Spyware loaded??

µTorrent actually came with some 'report home' function for a few versions, after BitTorrent bought it, those versions are banned on most private trackers these days.
