Are ya really? I'm glad it's Friday, but that's just me.

You can be glad that this aforementioned matter is sorted out, though.

Happy Friday!

Unfortunate, but to be expected I suppose

I'm a long-time Juno user. I actually switched from AOHell years ago since getting a special deal through my Discover credit card for $4.95/month. I've kept the email address active, and am quite happy to only get about 10 pieces of junk mail a month (how many spammers use dot-juno to send their filth? Not many. ).

Either way, I hope the company survives, whatever they decide to pursue.

Business model

They can bring the ad-supported free internet business model to FTD- free orders of flowers, as long as you put up with ads applied to the flower petals...

I was just wondering today...

...if netzero still exists. I'm moving later this summer, and thought dialing into them might be worth it while I wait for cable. It looks like I'll be in a comcast market so I might have a good long wait!

now this is what I call...

pushing up the flowers.

"buy our flowers, get free dial-up internet."

a person buys flowers, and gets asked "do you want dial-up internet with that?"

Karl's having a little fun...

...you all do realize that FTD doesn't deliver flowers, right?

Why pay $50/month when all ISPs take you to the same internet?

Delivery... marketing... it's a fine line. The fact is, if you want some flowers delivered, you can go to FTD to get it done.

I've seen those NetZero ads. I've thought it funny too.

NetZero isn't even the cheapest.

Dial-Up.cc is even cheaper, at $8/mo. and no contract. They used to be $5/mo., which appealed to me since I wanted to have Internet access in case my cable went out.

That and there's no DSL here, so I can't just use Dual-WAN and have the DSL for back-up.

I remember when NetZero was FREE!

I still keep a dialup provider just in case cable goes down and I really need to get to the internet or get e-mail. Today, just for the halibut, I scrounged around for the box in which I had stored my external Zoom V.90 modem. I was thinking about removing the internal modem and using the slot for something else, so I needed to see whether it would still work. I got it to send a fax, which was encouraging and now I'm on line with it and it seems to work better than the V.92 LT WinModem. It also has an LT chipset, but being an external serial modem, it doesn't depend on the CPU for help. Anyway, I may now pull the internal modem and put that other card in. I'm sure I won't use the external modem for connecting to the internet all that much, but it is essential to maintain the ability to send and receive faxes, at least for now.

If dialtone goes away, that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Me too...I remember using hacks to make the intrusive toolbar thing disappear...or is that another "free" dialup service?

I still have a free NetZero account. Use it as a backup for my cable. Think it only has 10 free hours a month with it though.
