Comments on news posted 2008-05-12 13:45:35: With the exception of the marketing saps who came up with the soon-to-be-scrapped Xohm brand, people are excited about Sprint's new WiMax joint venture. But don't forget that Sprint has other problems to worry about. Last quarter, Verizon added 1. ..

| | g33 @sbcglobal.net | Sprint customer (no contract) get SERO how?
I've been a Sprint customer for some years and stayed in part because I prefer CDMA over GSM (a TDMA technology) technically and seem to have fewer "chattered" conversations then friends on TDMA based networks. I use an old phone, had reliable service, and my contract should be long expired.
How do I get onto a SERO plan???! I've read this whole thread but have not done other searches about SERO (yet). Someone mentioned an email address but wasn't sure it was correct. Others talked about ordering phones via the SERO web page and then getting screwed. I'd like to keep my existing number but maybe that's worth forfeiting for a better plan (w/ TXT, data) at a more reasonable price. I'm an average user at a few hundred minutes a month. I'm not trying to scam anyone, just get a decent service at a decent price.

As an aside, yes, CS sucks. I absolutely cringe at the thought of having to deal with them for anything. Just hate it. I've had to activate an old phone a couple times over the years and they just really screw with you (it was MY phone! It didn't cost Sprint a dime to activate it on my existing account - save for the 2 minutes it took a local rep. to do it). You can also direct reply to me - should get forwarded I think. | |

| SERO too I've been a Sprint customer off and on for 15-20 years. I loved the LD, and I like my cell. The last time I called some goofy kid kept trying to tell me I didn't have a SERO plan - the code wasn't active, etc.. I kept insisting i did. I finally found my way to a charming lady in Nova Scotia who could access all of my records. She found it and now my account is flagged as SERO. I'm due to renew in a couple of months. I probably will renew because I like my free unlimited roaming. -- Mac: No windows, No gates, Apple inside | |

| Re: SERO too What sprint should do if they had any brains, would be to re-allocate the iDen spectrum to which they own the licenses. That spectrum is on a lower frequency than the existing 1900 CDMA, and it would give Sprint coverage that would make competitors shudder, especially when it comes to distance covered per tower, and signal quality. By putting former iDen frequencies on CDMA and later, WiMax, they could basically have astounding quality of service. As to iDen subs, let don't let them renew when their contract expires. Give them options to sign up for SERO-priced plans for the first two years, with extra incentives, and it'll be hard for customers to resist. | |
