| I don't understand Why they don't just install these on the corners of city blocks, right on the curb? Nobody ever parks there, there's no need to mess up people's lawns, doesn't detract from land value, etc.
Of course I don't see the need for this service anyway, but still...

| great job AG :( i have a feeling that this will result in much slower deployment of Uverse, perhaps a complete halt for connecticut, good job AG for ensuring connecticut has poor broadband. the one company actually building a network that actually deploying a little bit of fiber may stop completely now. i highly doubt that there are a lot of land owners that will allow a VRAD to be on their property (how is this any different from having a power transformer on the ground? they are like 3'x3'x4' in size. maybe i'm just missing something).
i'm doubting it is possible to drastically shrink the cabinent, so i guess they could put a bunch underground, but even that may not be possible.
i've read a few posts on how verizon seems to have 'solved' the problem. except there some major differences: 1-the fiber nodes are passive and don't need to do need to do anything really complex like interfacing a fiber line to a whole bunch of copper lines so the boxes are much smaller; 2-most fiber splitting boxes are mounted on poles and the last time i checked, verizon is giving preferences to places in which they don't have to dig.
