Comments on news posted 2008-05-29 15:54:36: Fresh off their lowest score ever in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index for customer satisfaction, Comcast comes in second place (only behind the perpetually imploding AOL) in MSN Money's customer service hall of shame. ..

Comcast truly sucks!

Their service is truly bad. We were migrated from Time Warner to Comcast a few years ago. My speeds have went down, my tv freezes almost daily, and they do nothing. Our rates have gone up and service has gone down. Our citywide WI-FI hasn't made it to our Minneapolis neighborhod yet, and Qwest DSL was bad.

Re: Comcast truly sucks!

Oh, and they also took another channel from the extended basic lineup and moved it to the digital tier.

I am the exception!

I must be the quintessential Comcast customer who has had nothing but exceptional customer service for both HSI and CableTV. Perhaps my experience is due to the ability of my local Comcast installers and service people to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Frankly, in my experience, Comcast's telephone CSRs have been nothing but polite and helpful, as far as they are allowed to be helpful. Nonetheless, every one I have called in the last five years has been at least polite. I have never been denied a service call for an obvious HSI or CableTV problem.

I have never been charged for a service call because I am polite. Every service call I've had has been completed without fail, often with my experience with either HSI or CableTV dictated to the cable tech at my house.

My core group of friends also think that Comcast is an exceptionally responsive supplier.

Now, OTOH, I *do* have personal problems with Comcast's HDTV offerings and with Comcast's "managing" P2P transfers. Comcast's P2P throttling is a minor issue since I download less than 15GB/month.

Nevertheless, I believe that Comcast's throttling of P2P is evidence that their cable network, on average, has little capability to meet what we all know will be required in the next two to five years for HSI downloads of TV, movies, etc., and Cable TV downloads of HDTV content.

Comcast, and possibly other cable operators, with all of their corporate knowledge simply failed to understand where cableTV and the interwebs were going, and have no spare capacity in their 20 year old infrastructure to handle the demands.

This failure to visualize the future means that other modes of high speed connectivity will rise in the very near future, cutting Comcast and other major cable systems down to their knees.

Comcast has shown in the past that they are able to give decent customer service. Within the last few years I received decent customer service myself quite a few times from them.

I know they've been on a downhill slide the last half year or so, so I don't know what they're like right now. AT&T was the one I had the most trouble with, by far; they were darth vader compared to Comcast. I don't know the current status.

No issue here

Frankly I do not see what all the fuss is about. The best customer support is one I do not need to call. The last time I needed to call Comcast was about a a year ago. A few months ago the entire system went down (TV and Internet) I called Comcast an they already were on it and the system was restored with in an hour.

right...

Comcast, you suck, because you do, not because of media coverage, all the media coverage does is show how crappy your service and support is, no more, no less.

I am comcast

I work for, lets say, one of the larger comcast contracting companies, and I can say this. I see the screwups and poor installs DTV and Dish do as well, I have customers tell me they got comcast because Dish or DTV F**ked them over on either billing or service in general, I know people that switched to comcast because the cheaper "second" cable provider in the area didnt handle their issues, and took forever to correct line issues. basically, if you pay for cheap service, you get cheap service. we are dispatched next day usually, sometimes we are out there same day for trouble calls. alot of other services take days. i guess it will always be a fact of we are the cable company, the most hated people in the world.

Comcast sucks

Ha! Comcast sucks. I'm waiting on their customer service now-- 40 minutes so far to answer the phone. But it's cool they appreciate my patience. I don't appreciate them trying to increase my bill every couple of months by the same amount.

I miss you verizon DSL. I had them for 3 years with zero problems. I'm coming back soon, baby.
