No notices or anything. Though if you consider a standard 3mb/768k connection, that'd be equal to about 60GB monthly upload.

Do I have to do a speed test to see if I have the 1 mpbs? Depending on your cable modem, you can see the speeds by going in to the cable modem and browse the config info. The address varies, but »192.168.100.1 is a heavily used address.
Powerboost makes it difficult to determine if you have the new upload speed. You need to do an extended upload to see if it is powerboost or the new 1 mbps speed. Try uploading to a web server and use a PC based tool to see if you have it or not. Microsoft has a free web site under the "live.com" banner called Skydrive, where you get 5 GB of space for free. »skydrive.live.com

The upload would run at 1.8-2mbps for the first ~6MB(?) of the upload and then settle at 1mbps for the remainder of the upload.
In fact I had power boost with 384kbps upload before we got the 1mbps bump back in February.

| In my area Powerboost works to assist my upload to about 2mbps and then it falls back down to 768k (8/768k service). I know this because the last few days I was uploading files to FTP space, and noticed the dramatic speed drop after a few megs of transfer. If I cut the connection to the FTP server, and re-establish it, I would have boost again for a few megs, but each time was shorter and shorter boost, unless I kept the connection quiet for a longer period of time. I would love to see a static 2mbps on the upload, as it would greatly benefit legitimate uploading, e-mailing attachments, etc. Honestly, I'd rather have symmetrical 8/8 mbps than even 50/2 mbps. | |

How can you sleep at night? Wow, Sounds like someones doing a great job of "ingesting" the media content. The need to upload is hardly a new fad, my father uses it for transferring files to and from a home office(x-rays, especially mris are huge), I use it to operate my computers remotely in and out of town. Wife uses it for working from home, however a second connection is still in use even since the upgrade to 16/2 last year. I know singles who make use of that kind of speed. So gets kinda tight at times, when you have a family of five doing there thing with 6 pcs and 3 laps. Currently building a server to decentralize file access. Already have a server thats serves one tv. But we decided to eventually attach it to the network as a distribution hub for the 3TB of dvd movies and IPTV files. Some think it's grown a bit out of control, but its a bit more of necessity and convenience, nothing beats streaming a movie, speaking of which, a buddy of mine, who has a security firm is talking me into the convenience of streaming our security system video like he has, but its just to much craziness. Currently working on a way to have redundancy ever since there was an outage with the fios I think eventually comcast will have to do away or raise the hidden caps to compete with fios, at least in some markets, we had to move the iptv and dvd downloading from the comcast line to the fios line several months ago. Not sure if they'll suspend an employees line but we don't want to be the first to test that theory. heh

| I didn't see this coming! I had no idea this was even on the radar. This cures the biggest problem I have with my Comcast service -- the 384k upload (I'm on the 6Mbps package and didn't feel justified in paying for a higher tier just for more upstream bandwidth). This will be great for all the files I often need to upload to the office server, and for the photos and videos I upload to my website.
We're in a Scientific Atlanta headend area, wonder if we will get the upgrades on schedule? I've found that we seem to be an "exception" to most of the Comcast rules, for better or for worse. -- "I'll follow the law until it's just stupid." -Ted Nugent

Any way you attempt to spin it, those were crappy numbers and conditions for a 12/1. But of course, in usual Comcastian fashion, somehow, some way, it was someone else's fault. *sigh*

| For everyone? The article didn't say either way, but I am assuming this is for ALL comcast users. If this is true, its about freaking time. They should have done this at least a year ago. Do you realize for people without Blast! that its been roughly 3 years since the last upgrade? Think about what has changed in the last 3 years as far as the internet goes.
I think Qwest is actually scared of this because thats the only thing they had over Comcast on their standard package was their 896kbps upload, but their 1.5mbps download was horrible. Now, people can get 6/1 for very little more than Qwest's 1.5mbps package. Truthfully I would take the 8/2 over Qwest's 20/1. Upload is important to me, which is why I got the Business 16/2. (Of course this would happen a few weeks after I get the business connection, but I do not regret my choice as I love the 16/2).
