| | | Decentralize the Net I agree...
Its time to cut the middle man out and decentralize the net. Day after day you hear about all these things that ISPs do like blocking, censorship, can't to this can't do that give us more money and so on. The fact that we as customers made the company's, its time to break the company's. Maybe then they will say "hey wait a minute! what are we doing wrong?" *lol* I know this is no easy task, but with technology getting better and cheaper it is at least a thought. Something like linking home PC to PC to PC. Now I realize there are ALL kinds of issue with this, but it really is getting time to cut out the middle man.

If it's really a plan, the telcos/cablecos are probably trying to cover it up as fast as they can now that it's leaked.
But it doesn't really matter whether it's literally a plan with a schedule. It is a possible and plausible future scenario. And it would be exactly in line with the interests and profit motives of the big ISPs.
In fact it is the direction things are already going. If the anti-neutrality forces win, a corporate-controlled, admission-controlled, fee-for-everything internet where there is no reliable, independent or free-flowing information is what we'll end up with.

No more gaming and etc. In fact someone else would probably start a new internet. Tough.

1 edit | More internet blocking in Canada, than you think Something called 'The Great Firewall of Canada' does exist.
So many sites in the States are blocked in Canada, or re-routed to the Canadian site..This has to do with greedy TV networks in Canada that think it's legal to do this, because they own the Television rights to whatever material they censor.
The internet is supposed to be free, yet in Canada, the population is either too dumb to notice or will not fight the crap that goes on..
'Freedom of Communication' is a right and not to be removed, so that some scum bags can make billions by censoring others.

Explain to me the difference between televised content and internet websites, how said companies implement television content broadcast rights to something like a wiki entry and the re-route idea is common in any country. Do a toplevel domain search in the UK, China etc. Same thing.
said by zalternate:The internet is supposed to be free, yet in Canada, the population is either too dumb to notice or will not fight the crap that goes on.. We've got a whole different set of legal irritants to deal with. Resisting U.S buyouts of our country being one of them, or so the joke goes.

So long as it meets corporate approved guidelines free speech is entirely up to the corporate citizen. And the "scumbags" have been doing the same thing since the advent of the net.
