Cant do that they have IME Filtering for there data plan. All NON-Rogers Phones aren’t able to use the good data rates. It cost about $15CND per MB on a NON-Rogers branded Phone. |

i was going to say why not just use fido, but I think that rogers owns fido tooo.

Of course Apple would not release a CDMA iPhone north of the worlds largest CDMA userbase. So they are stuck going with the only GSM provider in Canada. I feel bad for those people.
It's not all Apple's fault there. They should of gotten out of that stupid AT&T exclusivity contract before the iPhone 2.0 came out.

I have a childhood friend that I love to death, but listen to what he just did.
1) He has a kid and still lives at home.
2) He JUST renewed his Verizon contract for 2 years and purchased a Samsung Glyde. 3 weeks ago.
3) He decided he didn't like the Glyde, so he canceled his Verizon contract.
4) He's going phoneless until the iPhone 3G is released, at which time he'll sign another contract with AT&T and purchase an iPhone.
Even with all the limitations the iPhone has, he likes the way it "looks" ... yeah, he's a hippy artist too.
I just don't understand some people. |

What Karl forgot to mention is that since 2004, when Robers bought out Microcell/Fido, we now only have 1 (ONE) GSM provider in Canada. This is essentially a MONOPOLY as no sane consumer would ever consider a freedom restricting CDMA provider.
Argh !!!!

You can cancel the contract, keep the iPhone, pay the ECF and the other BS and use your existing SIM with your existing plan. This may not be very advantageous for Robers users, but for Fido users that still have an old grandfathered plan pre 2004, it's a VERY viable solution, especially with the 30$/300MB addon.
