Cable anti-trust complaint and lobbying Congress next

How long before the other shoe drops and complaints over anti-trust collusion are launched. Lawsuits and lobbying by cable coming soon.

I know why Embarq is losing customers....

It's CRAP, and when I had issues a few years back, the answers they gave me were HIGHLY unacceptable to the issues I was having. I eventually went back to TW after 6 months of their crap, now I have CC after they took over this area, it's been pretty solid after the initial month they took over. I even got rid of Embarq to get CDV, I have been hugely happy with it so far.

Should we expect anti-trust action against CableLabs, the RIAA, the MPAA and any other joint operation between companies in the same industry?

how long before they remove Dish/DirecTV?

Noticed they were on the site as well, wonder if they remove those options if you move into a Uverse/FiOS available address?

No doubt. Next thing you know they'll start giving away rotary phones to new customers.

Those rotary phones may be old and rely on an outdated dialing system, but for the most part they just work, even now- I doubt any modern cordless talking caller ID electronic phone will last that long.

anyone notice how simliar colors and design are to vonage

I don't know if it's just me, but the first thing I thought when I went to the website was noticing how similar the color scheme and design is to vonage.com...

actually it looks like they just took the Vonage design changed it a little bit and posted it up.

Maybe vonage goes after all of them now?

You are right. I have an old (prebreakup) wall phone from AT&T. It just keeps on working. Every other phone in the house has been replaced at least 2 times.

So the people that paid $5/month for phone rental to AT&T for 30 years probably got their money's worth.

It may have been an obscure clause in the lawsuit settlement that allows them to steal Vonage's layout?

Actually they are incompatible with VOIP. The terminal adapters don't process the clicks.

.

So, wonder how it'll handle a person that's moving to any areas, where Verizon's own FiOS is now overbuilding the incumbent. (like the situation in Texas that's now happening where FiOS is overbuilding AT&T)

Who gets dibs on those potential customers???

That's true but it will still work for incoming calls. I have an old rotary phone that I tried to use. The only problem was that the old mechanical bell ringer would draw too much power and would barely be audible when a call was coming in. Receiving calls worked perfectly though.

Cable won't do that... They already have a program like this called Cablemover:

If they complain about the telcos doing it, it essentially poisons their own well.

those old AT&T phones? well all the scrapped tank armor from wars long gone had to be used somewhere....Western Electric must have used it to build those phones. they took a beating and weighed like 20lbs.

Re: Baby bell losses

Its no wonder people are dropping landlines. As an example Qwest charges $7.50 just for caller ID. Add in all the taxes and fees and you are over $9 for a feature that cost Qwest next to nothing.

Whats really funny is someone reading this probable Googled (rotary phones). I think I still have a few packed up somewhere myself. It makes me wonder if cheap and made in China is better than old and reliable.

Depends solely on your inside wire mostly. If the NID and cables have shorts, it'll suck too (I had the outside box--not the NID--have a screw loose and it took 8 techs and 1 engineer to fix it--the young tech found it withing 15 minutes of showing up Once he fixed the screw--only 3,000 ft. from the CO--the phone was awesome--I moved and the inside wire was all bad--lots of shorts--so Cox got the business--no inside wire required). You can have FIOS at the door and if your wiring sucks, FIOS sucks. Old Copper is about the worst crap I've used--and they HATE replacing drops and lines. Cox Digital Voice beats it by miles unless your in a new development. Even then, I wouldn't trade DSL 6.0/768 for 15/1 Cox HSI. I've referred so many customers that my bills sometimes get paid by Cox. I do the same with my cell co. and they give me a $25 credit everytime I refer someone to my rep. I had a $400 credit once on a $100 cell bill so 25 people went to my rep. Nice, huh?
