Apparently the music thieves now drive internet policy

All this wailing and gnashing of teeth in the U.S. and Canada and around the world for that matter is driven by the music & movie thieves. Threaten to cut off their daily fix and they mobilize groups to restore their unlimited access to FREE content. God forbid anyone thwart their desires and off to court they go demanding their "rights".

Money

Money will prevail in the end. Everyone including the the Canadians can be bought.

The ones with bigger pockets will win or their customers will suffer with smaller Caps and higher prices. DSL will become unstable in many areas.

There is no question that the group you have singled out is involved in this fight. However, I think it's a little short sighted to imply that they are the only group with something at stake with this issue, which is really larger and more fundamental than your comment would suggest.

If by "common people", you mean music and movie thieves, then you are right - I don't care. But if you mean everyone else who pays higher prices to support the leaches, then I do care.

we should shut down the internet to protect the **AAs, then tax consumers and give the money to the telcos to make up for the lost revenue.

that's a win-win! (except for consumers).

does that get it about right?

Oh great, another taxpayer funded ivory tower "think tank" trying desperately to justify their existence.

Hello Mr.Troll!

I download Linux ISOs. I am not a thief yet i disapprove what these incumbent ISPs are attempting to do. Does this make me a thief that is trying to influence Internet policy ?

Is google a pirater too?

Theres no doubt google probably makes some money linking to BT sites, but 99% of their revenue comes from other searches, legit ones that I'm sure not even you can find a downside too. Yet theyre getting involved in this too...Why, for PR?

The non-narrow minded can see this is much more important then people getting their music fix. I'm sure your anti-BT thinking is well known on these boards... but to hate net neutrality all together? Come on...you can't be that narrow minded.

Seems like some PPL still don't understand it's not about music and P2P, and it Is about digging into users privacy and fleecing their money. This also translates to control over everyone.
All these hassles are created by satanic and luciferian organizations trying to instill New World Order everywhere. They have been at it for 1,000's of years. Go learn your history and how it applies today.

Ah and what shall we do with our levies on blank media? Note that Canada is not alone in having their own little micro levies for the music industries on cds, tapes, and such. Some other places also include recorders, dvd players and so forth.

I simply don't see those going away, ever.

People tend to get uppity when money comes flying out of their pocket, and are accused of committing acts by proxy.
