2. A web site of girls (I'm assuming 12 or younger) in bathing suits and underwear isn't child porn, however it's not a website I would look at 24/7, not my cup of pee.
3. Jcpenny mags, I'm assuming the ads with little girls in their bathing suits or panties, not child porn, just advertisment, not my cup of pee either, in fact the only thing I notice is the Best Buy or Circuit City ads. |

the AG gets to posture and preen in his fight against child porn (TM) and the ISPs get hossanahs and attaboys for something they were going to do (or have done) anyway, that probably was going to piss off customers. |

You might want to cite sources for those allegations.
Child porn involves children under the age of 18 engaging in sexual acts or posing nude in sexually provocative poses/positions.
The picture of child nude is NOT child pornography.
The picture of child in a bathing suit or lingerie is NOT child pornography. they must be engaged in a sexual act or suggestive of a sex act.
Sure its an ugly fine line and i find it repugnant that many get close but never cross and can get away with it but its the law and for what its worth it does work.
There are MANY legal sites that have children under the age of 18 in lingerie and swim suits that are highly suggestive BUT not nude and NOT posing in sexual positions.
I don't see these AG's going after them...why? cause they are perfectly legal. offensive to many, but perfectly legal. |

Seems it is more the latter when all the alt.binary
newsgroups are cut by AOL, AT&T and others. That is
when you consider that a lot of what is on those groups
is copyright infringing content.
And as someone noted in the AT&T Southeast topic on this,
there are a lot of groups outside the alt.binaries
hierarchy that carry child porn. And any binary group
can get hit by it what with Russian spam gangs using it
as a come on to get people to install their malware.
Of course if they were honest about it (too much cost to
maintain multiple GB worth of content a day on their
servers), there might be fewer complaints.

Thousands of voters will actually believe that Cuomo did something to eliminate kiddy porn from the internet.
I use newsgroups for access to Microsoft and Adobe users groups. Instead of getting it from Verizon I now have to subscribe to a private provider because VZ removed all groups except some stupid junk ones. It cost me $10 for 30gigs, so it's no big deal.
I am sure that anyone seriously into illegal kiddy porn did not use Verizon or ATT newsgroups anyway. They subscribed to a third party because it is pretty well anonymous. |

Both Karl and Cuomo forgot the most effective tool, the FBI and Scotland Yard's aggressive prosecution via sting operations. Mot of the notorious alt. group have been abandoned and sites been shut down for years. This is nothing more than political pandering.
