let them merge

I say let them merge. merging wouldn't be the answer to their problem anyway. they will continue to lose customers because their service sucks. both of them sucks. i bet the day that the merge happens, a lot of people will just go back to cable.

different fcc this time than 01

Remember when it was proposed in 01 that the fcc was still democratically ran. Now it's republicanly ran and the chairman has let every single merger proposed during his term go through. If they get it in front of the fcc before the election maybe it can get it approved before the next administration takes over!!!!

here's why the gov't won't allow a merger

Hmm, Big problem with a merger is that there isn't a ''level playing field'' in terms of competition across all area's.

example is this : Where I live, I have access to no less than 5 providers. I have Fios, Bright House and Comcast in front of my house....plus of course access to Directv and dish.

There are area's ....in this same county that don't even have one landline provider, that means the only options are dish or Direct. There are many many household across the country that are in the same situation.....all highly rural area's.

so.....for the sake of those households.....the gov't won't let the only 2 options become one.

personally.....I support a merger.....but that's my analysis of the way the gov't would view it.
