| ATT Wireless in general First off, I use Sprint. Whenever I phone family members/friends that have ATT's wireless service, I cannot believe the lousy connection. As in garbled conversation, dropped calls, ect. When I phone friends/family members on Verizon/Sprint-OR-hardline, it's a perfect call. I also have T-Mobile's service-same problems as ATT, which is why I switched to a CDMA carrier.
IMHO, GSM is very poor as far as consistant call quality goes here in the USofA. I can't attest what other countries GSM services are like, just what I deal with here in the US.
3G(GSM) IS supposed to handle calls/data AT the same time. Which makes it better then EVDO's version-separate calls and data access. But when I'm making a call I don't want a dropped call switching from 3G to EDGE in my home area. Japan has the right idea-all 3G @ 2100Mhz..period. ATT has a problem here, and it's going to be that way for quite some time.
Get used to it, GSM fans. I'm not a CDMA fanboy, but they done a better job....so far...

| Apple will not admit there is a problem! The most likely cause of the problem is a design/manufacturing flaw in the connector between the antenna and the amplifier in the phone. This results in a range of phones that work perfectly to those hardly working with 3G. Since it seems all phones work to some degree its unlikely (in my opinion) for Apple re-call anything, perhaps a software update could help | |

| Re: Apple will not admit there is a problem! I wouldn't be too sure about that! In MY experience Apple has always stood behind their products. I realize that perhaps not everyone has had that experience , but I have.
My Mobile Me switch over went painlessly (although I am miffed they temporarily dropped the iDisk FTP download feature). My son's iPhone took three hours to activate on launch day and works without problems. My iPhone purchased 3 days ago took 5 minutes to activate and works well so far.
Adimittedly, I am a big fan of Apple products, but I realize that they are not perfect. The 3G launch day problems being a good example. What were they thinking? Of course the servers were going to get overloaded rolling out a WORLDWIDE release AND the MobileMe switch over all at the same time! That was just plain dumb!

I own a Motorola Global Q9h, and if you go to any Motorola forum, you'll find the same complaints from Q users.
