| It was definitely a good idea. I can't wait to have it I fully agree with investors that it's a good idea. I have a client in Manhattan beach, CA and they have FiOS. Instead of doing an onsite repair for hours, I was there for 30 minutes. Finished fixing the problem in 10-15 minutes and do a major update for another 10. And believe me, it was about a 500MB update. It would have taken me about 1 hour or more to do everything but it took FiOS about 10 minutes. Amazing speed and affordable. Besides, we are logging behind Japan and South Korea when it comes to Internet Speed. FiOS Rocks!!! | |

| Craig Moffett is an Idiot! Craig Moffett, a well quoted Wall Street analyst who on any given day can usually be found pushing cable stocks and cable industry viewpoints, once again trots out his argument that investing in fiber is a bad idea.
This guy sounds like those in the past who said that gas was better than electricity or those who wrote in the NYT in 1939 that Television was doomed to failure because people would NOT have the time to stare at a little box. Ha! Just look how powerful a force television has become everywhere. Obviously he doesn't know or doesn't want to know that fiber optics is the future. The capability of fiber optics is just mind boggling due to its huge bandwidth. Cable simply has no future no matter how many concoction of DOCSIS they come up with.
I wouldn't waste my time reading this cable-paid idiot

| In the end. Fios has far fewer maintenance costs. You do not have to touch the plant to keep it up. You fix any fiber breaks as they occur and that's pretty much the limits of any plant maintenance. Not only will Verizon be able to use fewer technicians (Yeah that sucks) they will save on constant purchases of new copper to fix the aging copper plant.
For now they can keep competitors off the lines. However there will come a point where Verizon will have to make a decision as to maintain the copper plant for competitors or give them access so they can focus on services or whatever.
The best part is that they get the copper plant removed for free. Those thieves are useful for something lol. -- Mac Chatter »www.macchatter.net
