3 edits | Hmm.... So I guess I will be going here on Sept 30th, 2008. Well, I may not download 250GBs yet but I guess I will hang in there until I get that first notice of the overcharge and then, off to another provider.
Hit them in the pocket and drain the blood (money) out of them.

We have the elite 6meg dsl and I have yet to get above 5000 and they say that that is fast enough and don't worry about it, it's within their range of speed that they have to offer me. If you switch, I hope that you get faster speeds than me. |

Re: our competitive market 250GB is so bad. Right now its okay but not for long when HD Youtube and such goes live. Once inforced I dont think they will ever up it. |

And since upload capacity is the choke point for cable companies, why not cap upload? Besides the throttling, it would make more sense to surcharge heavy uploaders more than anyone else. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page Ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Re: fios said by Dogfather:A lot may, most won't. Most people don't come anywhere close to hitting 250GB/mo. I just recently updated my WRT54g router with Tomato firmware, and the bandwidth stats are interesting. I never would have thought that I qualified as a heavy user, and as of right now (with only a few days stats), I'm trending to use 150GB for a month. This doesn't include the streaming that I usually do either, so I'm sure that I'll exceed 200GB in no time.
edit:
I think that Comcast should specify up front that the CAPS will be adjusted upward on a regular basis, a la gmail storage space. The goal and understanding being that bandwidth needs, like storage, will INCREASE over time. So within 6 months, the CAPS will rise to 300GB. In 12 months, 375GB, 18 months 475GB, etc. Otherwise, this is a blatant money grab by Comcast.
If someone has bandwidth trend statistics showing how their use has increased over the past 24 months, please share. |

Re: Hmm.... With overhead on at&t, the best speed you could hope for on a 6M down connection would be 5100. |

evgray join:2003-05-19 Fort Scott, KS kudos:2 | reply to fatmanskinny 4900 down and usually 615 up. My speeds are usually consistent. We switched from a normal phone in house line to a dry loop and my speed went down. I did have 5200 all of the time. We have two lines into our house and when we switched, they moved our dsl to the other line and that is when the speed dropped. |

Re: Upload is the problem more than download I believe this would contribute to the "cap". Its data being transfered. Someone correct me if Im wrong here. Or would bandwith usage playing online games not be part of this "cap? |
