Sadly/mistakenly Connecticut coverage is missing off their new Google Maps coverage map.

 When Free means Fee!

If Cablevision's Wi-Fi was truly free you would not have to be a Cablevision Broadband Subscriber to use their Wi-Fi Network. In this case you have to be paying for a Broadband Connection in order to use their Wi-Fi Network. Therefore there Wi-Fi Service is not free!

OOL is overpriced to begin with. This service is not free, it's expensive.

They can make it an additional fee in addition to your OOL fee if you want.

 Very nice

This is a very nice perk. You don't see AT&T or Verizon offering free EVDO/HSPDA, nor WiFi. (And Starbucks doesn't count AT&T fanpeeps)

Re: Very nice

Cablevision's 'service' isn't decent service anyway, so why would OOL WiFi be a nice 'perk'?

Read, slowly....

Free WiFi access exclusively for Optimum Online customers in thousands of convenient locations.

They never said: "Free to anyone".

If you are a subscriber, and you don't pay anything 'extra', and you can access this WiFi network, then to you - it indeed is "FREE".

They have one of the highest rating here on BBr.

»User reviews - Optimum Online

Almost as high as FiOS, higher than Verizon DSL, AT&T, Comcast, and Road Runner.

Actually it's usually a race between CT & NJ to see who can be last.

Re: Very nice

To some here, anything that isn't free and at least 100 mbps internet and all TV channels in HD is a ripoff. And no amount of additional perks will change their opinion. They want to live in a socialist nirvana that exists only in the writings of Sci-Fi writers and StarTrek fans.

Been Waiting

My area got the WiFi nodes back around July 4th. Near my office in Babylon the nodes have been working and I was able to log in and utilize the service long before it was "officially" launched. It is nice to see the maps now showing where the service is available. There are a few spots around my area I was not aware of.

PLEASE cancel your subscription and/or don't become their customer!

(It means more bandwidth for me)

I fail to see your point? They are adding Wi-Fi for THEIR customers at no extra cost. That = free to me.

How is it overpriced. It is cheaper than Fios and cheaper than most other services across the country.

It's not "free". It's "included". There's a difference.

My DSL is $32 per month. FiOS is $43 per month. OOL is $45 per month.
