Comments on news posted 2008-09-05 16:46:21: Think your $3,000-$5,000 international data roaming iPhone bill was bad? One Portland family wasn't particularly happy to get a $20,000 bill from AT&T (via Consumerist). ..

| | a good solution ok i do not know how phones work cuz ive never used one and i never will but why cant they just have a thing.. when you sign up you tell them your max spending limit per month and have them enter it into their system so if you hit that limit and forget about it everything will stop working and you wont receive a piece of paper in the mail asking for twenty thousand green paper pieces | |
| | | | Re: a good solution I'm in the US and not roaming so there are no charges involved, but I've had an ATT card hooked to my laptop. I've only done basic internet surfing and e-mails for the last 24 hours and discovered I went through 130 megs down and 10.25 megs up. Several upgrades got pushed to my phone. If I had tried to use the card frugally in Canada, I would have been nailed. I also note that I exceeded by forty megs ATT's $60 a month Canadian add-on which gives you 100 megs of data in Canada for a month.
I really don't think you can safely roam with a data card in another country unless there is a special roaming plan like Three Like Home or Vodafone data passport.

| | LOL The guy was on youtube among other stuff probably, wasn't just sending pics. Anyone with a brain knows that there are roaming fees. I say charge these clowns full price. | |

VERIZON Sweet little ol' Verizon, and I'm in the Biz, And I don't give a rats behind if they don't like this Post. I went with their 30 day trial period on thier EVDO, USB modem, 55 something a month for 5 Gigs of download usage , they said NOTHING ABOUT RAPING ME IF I WENT OVER and lets keep this in perspective. 8 Gig is ,,, oh ,,, 2 dvd movies OK! Now ,, It is a good thing I checked with the company and verified in writing that this would cost me NOTHING if I did not like it or was dis-satisfied in ANY WAY ,,, following me?
I found out that their own software that they actually tell you to install or it wont work,, uses a program that will send out SMS messages.. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU ANYWHERE that it costs almost a buck a message, and that there is no plan that would soften this cost. NO SMS PLAN FOR DATA USERS OK are you with me so far??
Guess what my FREE 30 trial cost?? go ahead guess NOPE
NO
NO AGAIN
9000.00
YES!! documentation on request OF COURSE I PAID NOTHING because of course I used that 30 day window to escape their AXE. That is absolutley CRAZY if I worked for them ID QUIT If I had a phone with them ID THROW IT AS FAR AS I COULD these people know what they are doing and are not scared of the government or the public, they want money for aquistions and tech and they need money to compete. They will stop at nothing to get it or they know they will die. SO there you have it ,,, YOU THINK IM JOKING email me ILL send you a copy of the bill. | Re: This is NO BS OK!! Only idiots here are the ones defending AT&T. Considering the millions of things you do per day, if you were to read the fine print of every single one, you'd spend your time reading the fine print all of your life.
99% of people do not read the fine print. And honestly, if you suck this much as a company that you need to get more from people who don't read the fine print, I hope the liberals make your ass go bankrupt when they make a consumer's bill of rights when Obama becomes president.
| | | | | Re: This is NO BS OK!! well, look at the bright side...if at&t goes bankrupt, as is your wish, then we won't have these highly educated whine fests about our high phone bills. | |

| Re: odd There reason is to rip people off.
Honestly, if someone acted like this in a playground they'd be called a bully and would be put in timeout.
If someone acted like this without an official business liscense they'd be the mob.
So when the hell did republications, who call themselves 'moral people (bullshit)', allow mobsters to run businesses?
These guys need to get flung out of office.
And people say this is American, what is american about bleeding AMERICA dry? If these idiot companies bleed America dry they'll go to another country and do the same.
That right there makes the companies more in line with terrorists, at least according to republican statements.

| | | overage tos Joe public is now obligated to read a tos for everything that requires a contract, this is insane. The most important contract you will ever implement for your self will be your health insurance, because it could be a life or death operation they do not want to cover. It is said that even trained lawyers can not decipher the jurisprudence bs lingo contained in a health insurance policy, so how could we. The same goes for all of our electronics tos, the evil corp. will word them to make their corp. responsible for nothing, even when it is their fault. I love the new cell phone company whose promo is 'get rid of the evil' meaning the lock you in contract, overages, nickel n dime, whore-izon, nextohell, singular. | |
