No fair!

If WOW does do their upgrades, their ultra tier will be significantly faster on download speed than is available here through anybody except Comcast Business.

Honestly though I'm glad to hear that WOW is moving into 2007-2008 with speeds. Problem here is Comcast is stuck in last year.

all this means...

is that the company finally began upgrading it's outside docsis 2.0 plant to offer proper docsis 2.0 speeds while the rest of the industry preps for docsis 3.0 rollout.

what a triumph!

What are you babbling about? Very few ISPs are even moving past max DOCSIS 1.1 speeds. I don't see the point in your post.

Not bad

The tiers are not really that bad i dont think. At least they are not trying to stick you with one package one size fits all deal.

I wouldn't say Comcast is stuck in last year. They do have markets with 16/2 mbps packages. And the rest of the country 8/2 mbps is the top tier. I would say WOW and Comcast are pretty neck-and-neck here.

Re: No fair!

Okay, let me rephrase: WOW will be upping their top speed to 15/2 in ALL markets, with no PowerBoost tomfoolery. Comcast on the other hand only implements 16/2 service where there's FiOS pretty much. The Denver area is stuck with 8/2. So while some areas aren't so bad, WOW's top tier would be a significant improvement over what I have right now with Comcast. Basically the difference between speeds for the first 50 MB of a download and speeds for the full download.

Re: Not bad

Not sure about taxes and fees (only tax on my bill I get is for modem rental, and that's sales tax) but those prices are slightly less than Comcast's. Modem rental over here is $3/month for what amounst to a $20 modem, and installation was $49. But maybe taxes and fees go on top of that.

No FiOS here and Comcast offers 16/2, for less than what WOW will be charging for 15/2. And yes, I am a WOW customer.

Albeit 1 good one (History HD) and two horribly crappy ones, FX HD and Fox News HD.

and they don't even have ESPN2 HD or the full NFL network.

Will they get the TWC HD when the new HD weather star comes out?

If FX actually provides real HD programming then I think that would be a fairly good addition. Their original series IMO are pretty good not to mention they show lots of movies. Faux News on the other hand is pure trash.

Re: Still weak on HD though

I thought this was offical news since it was making front page. Either way it's still great for the new speed updates and HD channels. Yay for FX HD!
