Because we all know a defense attorney would never do anything to hide evidence or drag out a case and in general do everything legal or not to deny justice.

Vexatious?

Oh, if that went through, then any lawyer that did more than one of a type of case would be too. You might not like him, but he still has freedom of speech.

And we also all know how the RIAA uses bullying tactics to win cases that have no legal merit.

 Pot, meet kettle, RIAA

And the RIAA's legal counsel don't engage in vexatious
litigation?

Why not ask Marie Lindor, Tanya Anderson, or any of the
other people they've pursued legal vendettas against?

IMO, they should sanction the RIAA for abusing the legal
system.

So vexy

I guess "vexatious" means "not bending over and taking it from our multi-million-dollar legal team" now?!

Not only did the RIAAtards have to pay their own (probably exorbitant) legal fees, but also the defendant's... CLASSIC! Hope to see more like this in the future.

RIAA can't even get filing right

Readers should note the cover sheet (.pdf) of the court filing lists Richard Gabriel as the RIAA's lead counsel. Gabriel was named a Colorado judge in May and no longer works on behalf of the RIAA.

Yes, I'm sure a company that has sued 30,000 people, including dead people, and can't even get this filing correct is a fine upstanding organization that is being unfairly targeted by Mr. Beckerman.

In the end, the lawyers get it all anyways.

The RIAA is not the only party guilty of this sort of activity.

The entire civil legal system in the USA needs reform to prevent this sort of abuse. We can start by mandating that winning civil lawsuits requires the same burden of proof that is required for a conviction in a criminal case. That is, a defendant is presumed "not liable" until he or she is proved liable by way of evidence that meets the "beyond a reasonable doubt" legal definition.

The RIAA bought and paid for our legal system to be manipulated and changed in their favor by way or payoff, lobbyist dollars and pandering to politico's.

The RIAA and politicians who took their money should be investigated and outed. The lawyer should start that movement in retaliation.

Wow....

I'm surprised but, at the same time, I'm not surprised. In my eyes this proves without a doubt that the RIAA is grasping at straws. It's like the first lawsuit....was their first shot of heroin or first hit of ecstasy... or (name your drug)and now they cannot get enough of it.

Laughable suit.

Wow must be a slow day on the threat letter front for them to file this drivel.

Honestly if he's guilty of this then so is the RIAA's legal team.

Pretty pathetic attempt.

This could backfire big time

Beckerman appears a very effective lawyer who takes his role in the Judicial system very seriously. For the RIAA to "take him on" in thew same Judicial system could well backfire if Judges feel this action is not only unwarranted but is systemic of the RIA bullying quasi-legal approach.

RIAA is a joke. Now they want to sue a litigator for representation? When anyone does this, judges get pissed off.

I agree...

his ability to show them for the criminal element they are must be quite troublesome, and that he's beaten them at their own game over and over must really be an annoyance to them.
I hope he nails their legal asses to the wall.
