Been hearing them give their opinion about everything for years.

They must all be stupid

because, obviously, Verizon's FIOS and FTTH strategy is vastly superior to AT&T's weak, timid FTTP strategy.

Or so you'd believe by reading this board.

Cable will never learn

Unless the cabelcos find a way to change their customer service and quit jacking the rates every year (or almost every year), they will always be last in satisfaction.

JD Powers is like the Better Business Bureau. Companies pay them to promote the feel good/warm fuzzies about them. These studies are nothing but talking points written by the PR/Marking departments of the corporations looking to disseminate pure myth about themselves.

The IRS beats cable in satisfaction

Telco has little to brag about.

They're not stupid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the areas that are served by U-Verse aren't served by FiOS and vice-versa.

What JD Powers is saying in a roundabout way is that ATT U-Verse has more market share than VZ FiOS.

Telco TV rocks your socks because it has more HD and even the SD channels look better. I don't believe this has to do so much with technology as it is more to do with a telco monopoly that is being aggressively challenged by "phone company TV."

They'll probably learn now that they're no longer a monopoly.

If they use IPTV, maybe it would be superior

No not at all. I have no idea how you concluded that.

They are saying that U-verse customers are more satisfied than FIOS customers, in three out of four regions.

You are making this up and pulling it out of your ass. The most minimal scan of the reference I gave shows you that they conduct actual surveys and report the results.

This is simply not true. J.D. Power pays for the studies themselves in advance and the data is collected from consumers in the market place via fairly lengthy surveys (I get one every time I buy a new car). They aren't the opinion of the companies or J.D. Power. Revenue is then generated from selling the results of the studies (which are of interest to all the companies in that market segment whether they score high or low). They also get revenue from licensing logos to those companies who HAPPEN TO win an award.

If you want to see what cable is up against, just read some of the customer-hating comments posted here by known cable employees. It is no surprise they are habitually at the bottom of the satisfaction barrel with these folks facing customers...

Now if Verizon can fix their billing problems.

I had crappy service with Comcast but never really had an issue with billing. I have great service with Verizon but their billing leave something to be desired.

Hmm... not sure how it was listed as best for price

AT&T IPTV is not cheap.
Even bundled deals make it comparable to TWC (here in SoCal) at best, and that is only in areas that have Uverse Voice (still not in the Los Angeles area).

Best is qualitative. Price is quantitative. Both go into the evaluation of "best for the price". TWC may even be cheaper but if people hate the customer service or the product it'll naturally be rated lower, as it should be.

Re: They must all be stupid

AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FiOS only compete directly in two of the four regions in this survey. In every region that AT&T is in, they won (beating Verizon in every region where they compete directly). The only market AT&T U-Verse is not in is the East region, and that is the only region where Verizon took first place.

If you look at the raw scores, in all three regions where AT&T won, they had higher scores than Verizon had in the region in which it won. So most likely AT&T would have had a clean sweep if they were in all four regions.

Re: Cable will never learn

Remember, yes cable has been raising rates for years, but so has att and verizon landline phone. once att and vz have a substantial marketshare, they will have continued rate hikes.

in the last 3 years, cable tv has gone up about 9%

fios tv? 35%
