I'd estimate that a reasonable price for 22Mbps/5Mbps, initially, be between $70-$85/mo. |

All I can say is that Comcast should cut it out.
My provider, WOW, is having a hard time keeping up and I continually end up suffering from HSI envy every time Comcast ups their speeds. |

Do they have DOCSIS 3.0 eMTA modems yet? I wouldn't want to split my line yet again to have my data modem separate from my voice modem. You can only get 4 or 5 splits on our system before running into harry levels.
I don't expect DOCSIS 3.0 any time soon either. Our 750 MHz system is all used up. |

22Mbps/5Mbps would be sustainable 22Mbps/5Mbps. |

| They'll need to lower the price or have no business.
Retailers and service providers who are selling non-essential goods and/or services need to realize that if they're going to survive the recession they need to keep their prices reasonable. Consumers are stretched thin now with discretionary income falling. Many are barely able to cover their essential bills (rent/mortgage, food, energy). As the jobless rate increases along with inflation, that number will grow significantly. Expect Russia and OPEC to attempt to manipulate the oil market to get the price of crude back up, especially as the dollar continues its slide. If it comes down to cable and broadband Internet or food/shelter/energy, guess what consumers will drop. Duh, if the recession lasts 2 years, as some economists are predicting, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Comcast and TW losing significant subscriber numbers, especially since they're mainly in urban/suburban markets where people have ready access to free, regular broadcast signals generated by their local TV stations. The winners in broadband during tough economic times, at least among the young, maybe cellular carriers, if they don't get too greedy. However, if they implement low data caps and keep raising their fees, then who knows. |

Initially..I paid $84.95/month when I had Blast, I would say the $100/month for 22/5 is reasonable for the speed and I would pay it since the only other competition in my area is 6/1 at&t dsl. Bring it on, I can't wait! |

i would be willing to pay $70-75 a month for 22/5, but at the same time i would like to see the bandwidth cap increased to 500 GB or even eliminated. -- flame on! |

Bring it on, I can't wait! Was $84.95 without cable TV? I figure since Blast! (16/2) is $59.95 in most markets, then 22/5 would fit nicely in the $70-$85 range, as the 6/2 is $42.95. These prices are with cable TV.. |

1 edit | Yes it was without cable tv, and no competition in my area like I said, that is the reason for the higher prices. I guess I should rephrase and say that $100 is reasonable in my market, $70-85 is reasonable for yours. Even with cable tv, in my area, the price was $67.95/month for 16/2 Blast |

Current DOCSIS 2 plants can achieve those speeds.
If PowerBoost is allowing *us* to see 30-35 down and ~7000kbps up, sustainable 20/5 is doable.
DOCSIS 2 is good for 38/27... right? Seeing as some of us are already at 16/2 for $52.95, I don't see 22/5 for ~$75-$100 as an item that is very alluring.
Of course, YMMV.
$42.95 gets you 6/1. $52.95 gets(some) 16/2 $62.95 for 22/5 sounds doable... maybe? -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

I get sustained speeds of about 38mb/2mb been getting these speeds for a long time now. It doesn't taper off, I've downloaded 5GB files in 17-18 mins. I've asked around and people always say powerboost but the throughput never drops down.

Most Comcast markets already have an unadvertised 4 Mbps service as a retention offer for people who can't swallow $42.95/month for 6 Mbps. If you're hurting, you may want to call in and see what your options are.
Retention reps in general have more flexibility when it comes to reducing your bill. It can be well worth your while, especially in competitive areas, to call in for a chat with them. -- "Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too." |
