They really were massive spammers, my personal email account and our work spam filter saw a dramatic decrease in spam over the last couple of weeks.
I'd like to know how they came back online briefly? Did the Russian Mob (or whoever is controlling the botnets) threaten or bribe a network engineer at Telia Sonera to bring the network back online? Or is McColo just trying to restore their business because they haven't been charged with a crime? |

According to one article I read on the matter, Telia was a backup provider for McColo in case of a massive network failure. McColo sat out for 4 days probably figuring no one works on Saturday and ramped up their backup connection on Saturday morning thinking no one will do anything until Monday. |

Why aren't the owners of this rogue ISP facing criminal charges? Even if you believe that, in the past, they weren't aware of what their customers were doing, it became crystal clear that they are not only the criminals' provider but an integral part of the criminal enterprise. I'd love to see these scumbags charged. |

as far as i know, they don't need to be charged with a crime for their internet connection to be pulled, until they find a new ISP. i'm pretty sure every ISP as something that resembles an 'acceptable use policy' and voilating it could result in the termination of services. |

I'm no fan of Bush either (can't stand the guy), but I fail to see how your post has anything at all to do with this topic.
If you're going to bash Bush, at least do it at the appropriate time. There are plenty of those, but this isn't one of them. |

I've found that posting something critical of someone (Bush, for instance) is much more effective when the criticism is appropriate to the discussion at hand. Otherwise, you come off as some kind of nut.
But let's not let this thread get OT. We're supposed to be discussing the scumbag criminals in and around McColo. |
