BacklashThe backlash on this is going to be HUGE. I'd hate to be a member of the CRTC for the next few weeks. It just proves that Ma Bell, even in another country, has the best lobbyists in the world and would rather litigate than innovate. |

I have no words to describe how disappointed and disgusted I am at this decision. It just shows how spineless and useless the CRTC is... unbelievable... |

Rogers...now has full right to continue its throttling practices.

stick it to the manI was really hoping the CRTC would stick it to The Man. Maybe CRTC is part of The Man. |

Re: Canada even more stupid than USAI have to agree, and I'm not proud of it. The Americans voted for change: Obama is a Tech Savvy president. While us... we voted a conservative government.
Hell, our politicians sucks now, we don't have leaders worth electing for. We need Trudeau or Jean-Chrétien back in Canada. |

Not too sure what to think...Perhaps it is time to dissolve the CRTC as its usefulness has worn out. |

Bell sucksWhat doesn't really make sense here if they are worried about network congestion wouldn't they filter between the hours of 9-5 to ensure no issues? Why would they filter after work hours which is something that is really strange.
Funny how with the increased bandwidth Bell did not upgrade. Bell is 10 years behind. |

Re: Not too sure what to think...Wow, this is such a disgrace. I'm ashamed to be in this country. It's a sad state when this government is so blantant in such a decision. It goes to show you the majority of our citizens really do not know much about how they are abused when it comes to technology. |

Unbelievable....This is wholeheartedly disgusting. I really thought that despite the typically inept CRTC, they'd rule in favour of the wholesalers. |

Re: BacklashYeah, greed has no creed or face in this world, it exist everywhere. What no better example than in the face of overwhelming evidence that no problem exist, it is ruled that a problem "must" exist somewhere. |

Re: Welp, if that is how they want to playI suggested that long ago. But most of everyone shot it down. Good luck with that since people in Canada feel that they're owed unlimited and uncapped/throttled internet access. The US makes ISPs build out their network now if the Bell's don't want to play Canada should be the same. |

Re: Get Rid Of The CRTCBut as most people on here said when I suggested that--it costs toooo much to build your own network out. blah blah blah.
edit add: and the ISPs should be able to use the Bell network to deliver ISP services. |

Re: Not too sure what to think...said by matradley:Perhaps it is time to dissolve the CRTC as its usefulness has worn out. Its many levels above the FCC. Forcing American ILECs to lease out their DSLAM ports and transport DSL traffic to the ISP's datacenter is unheard of in the USA. Even RT customers can get competitor DSL. In the USA you have to install your own RT/DSLAM to get competitor DSL, no exceptions, and ISPs must figure out how to transport traffic from the CO to their data center. |

This isn't accurate, aside from the newer networks that Qwest and AT&T are putting in, independent ISP's can access customers anywhere the retail side can. |

While us... we voted a conservative government. I would not blame this on your conservative government. You have an entrenched board which is quasi independent of the Your Government, much like our FCC. What I would look at instead is what kind of ties do the board members have with the industary they are supposed to regulate. |
