| | Awful company This is no surprise. Charter is an awful company. Dreadful. They provide local television service (and in a few cases, Internet). They long ago ceded Internet and high definition television service in my area to AT&T. They offer basic digital cable, no Internet, and no high definition.
Worst. Cable Company. EVER.

If "Joe's Cable and Bait Shop" would take over here the service could do nothing but improve. At least maybe Joe would add internet to the system!!!

Comcast is already in my city. Maybe they'll buy them." Now with comcast having caps on their internet I'm not so sure. Then again 250GB is fairly high. I download a good bit. Hopefully someone like Brighthouse will buy them in my area. Anything has got to be better than Charter. When I lived in Maine I had TWC and they were phenominal.

| | Bailout!!! So why dont they call those incompetent fools at the treasury and ask for a bailout to.
Maybee call Hank so he can fire another Bazooka.
Because propping up failing business models is what america is all about.
They wont go bankrupt not on Obama's watch and definitely not under the Sky Helicopter Ben (ben bernanke) is flying over.

We surely can't let such a great company bankrupt. Look at all the jobs we would lose. Time for another tax payer bailout to accommodate rich idiots

| | | | Re: Bailout!!! Well Maybe they'll sell to Brighthouse here in my area...I've had Brighthouse prior to moving when they were TWC and I love Brighthouse(even though the CS could be better). Charter just needs to do better. | |

Man! Are the ever some dumb people running businesses now a days!

| | Charter greed attempts to kill community TV Charter is attempting to kill public, educational and government (PEG) access TV in northwestern Nevada in order to sweep the bandwidth toward high-profit premium services. It is most probably an attempt to upgrade the company's value for a potential sale. They have a lot of service areas adjacent to Comcast in northern California. Nevada has no coastline but where cable is concerned, we now stand between the digital devil and the deep blue sea. See ReSurge.TV for details on the consumer fight against Charter's attempted assassination here in the High Desert Outback of the American Dream. | | I remember talking with The supervisor for Time Warner came to my friends house when I was helping him with a problem with the internet. I overherd him talking about buying out the Charter area in my city in 2009. The small Charter area in Whittier. | |

| | well... i used to hate charter, but as of late, if you just use them for a isp, so thay cant tax you, everything is great i got 16/2 no problems no caps and no throttleing that i seen as of yet. i can get att dsl, but would never use it cause there not near as fast, and cost more (forcing me to pay extra for a dry loop) that make there 6mb same as charter 16mb. | |

pogona join:2009-01-17 Granite City, IL | I hate Charter..... Charter has to be the worst Communications provider ever. I live in the St Louis area and this is where they are based and have yet to provide any upgrades to their system. They DO throttle their bandwidth during the day (peak times). Most recently they have had issues with people playing World of Warcraft in this area because without notice they will send a disconnect signal for 5 sec and then re-instate your service. They stated they use this tactic to deter torrent users, however it is only hurting the people who are using the service legitimately. Verizon will be rolling out FIOS later this year, they are currently in stage 2. They have the main trunk lines installed and are now installing the lines to run to the residential areas. If you keep your eyes open in the St Louis area you will see several trucks out that are owned by private contractors installing fiber. I have seen 4 different trucks this week. Hopefully with Verizon Fios moving into the area it will force Charter to either upgrade (--- not holding my breath) or to sell off allowing a another communications provider to come in. However, I have heard that most communication providers are leery of buying them out because of the amount of work that will be required to bring the system up to date.
