One word. Caps.

Thanks but no thanks. Until you include unlimited internet plans at a reasonable price, this will not go mainstream.

AT&T caps and per byte billing can GO TO HELL!

Um, AT&T has caps in one location only - Reno, NV. Besides, if AT&T implements caps for all their customers, other providers will do the same.

Besides, AT&T has over 1,000,000 customers on Uverse. The only thing holding it back here is that it's not available in more places. People are dropping TWC for Uverse around here like a bad habit. I know people who are basically begging for AT&T to get VRADs in their neighborhoods so they can dump TWC.

They're all going that way. They're just trying to figure out how to do it.

You want net neutrality? Okay, but they'll find another way to come up with the revenue.

Won't U-Verse cost more than $40 a month?

Not Competitive

The price structure I have seen for U-VERSE does not look competitive with my current cable provider.

Doubt it. The ISP's that DON'T offer caps will see a HUGE influx of new customers. Caps kill me.... they're nothing more than yet another way for ISP's to squeeze more money from their users. What have ISP's done with all the money they've collected for being dumb pipe providers over the years? Instead of making improvements to their infrastructure, they've been stuffing it into their bank accounts. I'm sorry but if 2% of your user base is hammering your network, and this is causing you problems, they're either A) lying about those 2% of users causing problems for everyone else, B) Have ignorant network admins and are clueless about building a state of the art network or C) just out for more money. What's your pick?

Yes, U-Crap has signed up 1 million people.... care to guess how many people they've passed who have NOT signed up for U-Verse or who signed up and canceled within 30 days? I bet that number is 10-20 million!

Again with people are dropping TWC for U-Verse like a bad habbit- you can only speak for the people you know. More people have kept TWC than you know of.

TWC will match their prices when you call and cancel. Also ATT is much much more for TV and Internet than what TWC is.

$5 for EACH TV after your First one? WTF! TWC doesn't require that on SD TV. Also $35 for a decent internet speed. WTF?! No bundling options with a real discount?!?!

And don't get me started on their shitty 2Wire product.

OH! Also ATT sales reps lying about speed of cable Internet and how cable customers will lose TV after Feb. 17th. What a laugh!

ATT can't compete!

Yes!

U-100 starts at $44 per month. install is $99 if you don't add Internet or phone. Also they charge you $5 after your first TV for the STB.

Plus their Internet is $$$$$ much much more than what they want for their Plain Old DSL

Plus they don't offer bundle pricing.

Re: Not Competitive

same here after sitting and reviewing everything cent by cent.

And the $5 after the first TV and that alone will kill you if you have more than 2 TVs let alone add the price of the 'Net.

New

U-verse is still considered new, but I'm afraid by the time it's available here, it will be as old as VHS players or tape players. I sure wish Madera, Ca wasn't so far back on time.

Okay...

Nice to see that At&t is willing to ignore most of metro Atlanta to service rednecks in Alabama.

I suppose south georgia will get Uverse before atlanta too.

I can see why the big wigs at at&t like caps.

It's nice that they are rolling it out in new markets....

... but it would be nice if they considered "fleshing out" the existing areas where U-Verse is sporadically and spottily available.

Too bad they are pricing it so high, as well. Their first offers seemed awesome but they've quickly raised prices to approach the maximum the market will bear.

I called to check pricing all I can say it's 40 dollars more than what I pay charter now.

As much as I dislike ATT it is still a welcome option.

From someone that lives in the area just north of birmingham, its a welcome change. In Decatur which it about 90 miles north of Bham the city council has been putting off approving att like everything that could have a good impact to our area. Here we only have charter for television, other than satellite. Internet is offered by att, charter, and maybe one or two others, but mainly charter. Because Charter and the city have a exclusive contract to only work with each other without any oversight to pricing and quality of service.

Re: Okay...

Thats original...They're only going into areas around Metro Birmingham like Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, and HWY 280(upper middle class areas)..The same thing they're doing in ATL..

papeluv we are in Hoover and get great service from Charter there 16meg internet plan is the best thing going right now as long as they stay away from caps. We watch tons of stuff on Hulu and stream via Netflix. I don't get all the hype around Uverse I to compared the pricing to Charter and that stuff is not competitive at all. BTW I love how Georgia people love to take shots at Alabama. Dude red necks I don't even want to get started on Douglasville all I have to say is I know the real GA and it's not Atlanta

Now I would agree with u about Charter concerning their internet but Charter's cable svcs could be much better, especially their HD lineup
