AT&T and Cox are screwed Nether one can compete with the 137 triple play. Uverse physically cannot deliver 30/30 while delivering HD and telephone and i doubt Cox would deploy DOCSIS 3 just to sink this. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

So, in other words, LUS is going to kill the local competition when it comes to PtP circuits. I don't even think you can 100Mbps PtP circuits for less than a grand. ATT and Cox are going to have some serious competition in Lafayette now for businesses needing connectivity between multiple locations. -- "This is a bus. You know how big a bus is?" |

100mbs is a tough thing to do. Not necessarly technically, but people are always expecting improvement in the internet speed area.
After 100mbs, it gets sticky. 99% of all ethernet cards out there are rated at 100, which means they cant get any higher than that. People would have to upgrade TONS of personal equipment (not only multiple aspects of hardware, but some OS software too) to get above 100. |

Excellent job so far. Great packages and pricing, and even better network setup(100mbit within the network is such an attractive feature for businesses). -- Broadline Networks Inc. |

Wow now the people of Lafayette can get spam alerting them to the latest in penis plumping herbal Viagra, brides from Russia, fake Rolex watches, and poor Africans with assassinated relatives holding millions in cash they can't get out of the country. And they can receive this at up to 50 Mbps. -- I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man's reasoning powers are not above the monkey's. - Mark Twain in Eruption |

| Wonder what unbundled internet pricing is...
I don't watch TV and I don't need a $46 phone line, but 50/50 internet and I'm in. Anyone know how much it'd cost without triple play? $65 maybe? That's what I'm paying for 8/2 now...
Seriously, if these guys stay afloat (see iProvo and UTOPIA for cases when it wasn't so great) this'll be the future of the internet wherever there's a population center, and iMAX on 3.65 will be the future in areas where density is more sparse.
By the way, I wonder how the headend of LUS is connected to the internet. Level3? Cogent? I'm sure they don't use ATT.net or Cox Business Services. Any wagers on the size of the backbone? I'm thinking GigE or NxGigE to start with... |
