No HD for Wii - 480p is best they can do

The Wii only does 480P with component connections at best and 480i to most users using composite connections. But at their lower price point compared to Xbox & PS3 that may be good enough for many.

But if all they are offering is "original Nintendo content", I don't see any real value to it, compared to what Xbox and PS3 offer.

Only 802.11?

If I'm not mistaken, the Wii doesn't have an ethernet port. Who wants to stream video (HD or otherwise) wirelessly?

They have a USB attached Ethernet Dongle. Works well. I never tested absolute throughput, But it can fill a 3Mb DSL pipe on web stuff.

You can hook up a USB-ethernet bridge and run it wired that way. That's how mine is hooked up.

Who really even wants a wii? Xbox360 is a true gamers machine. Have all the biggest blockbuster games and added netflix. Which it makes it the king of the consoles. Plus over 6 million live gamers. If you want a kiddie machine then get a wii. If you want a gamers machine get xbox360.

XBox 360 doesn't have a lot of "party" games though. Yes NCAA 09 is better on the 360 than on the Wii, yes Halo 3 rocks for shoot-em-up games, but if you want to play games with people who aren't hardcore action or sports fans then games like Mario Kart & Mario Party are still a lot of fun usually. Plus the wii can play a lot of classics like Super Mario Brothers and other games that were popular years ago.

As for the Netflix thing, I was real excited when I heard that announced - but you have to have a Live Gold membership to use it - so you wind up paying two subscription fees to use that. Since the Roku (which I don't have and am not planning on getting) doesn't cost a second subscription fee I think it is a much smarter route for people who want to watch netflix on their TVs.

While I like the 360 and their platform titles, I wouldn't go so far as to call it the king of consoles. Of coarse this is debatable, but pay-to-play does indeed put it at a major disadvantage in my eyes. I gotta say, I'm very pleased with my PS3. The way I have it set up serves as much more than a gaming console.

If some of it is free

I am not complaining. Something different than Nintendo offered before.

Apparently everyone! It's been the hottest console since launch and has been outselling the other consoles.

wii is way outselling the xbox360 and ps3. when you say 'true gamers' do you mean jockish gamer douches that think only their opinions count?

Re: So What?

PS3 is boring. Wii = Fun.

In a college, the dorm kids with the PS3s never played them because they were always playing Xbox or Wii. PS3s are absolutely overpriced worthless pieces of shit. Everyone that has one never uses it.

Are you serious???

Who has an internet connection faster than 54g???
If you use wireless or ethernet there will be no difference.

Dentsu

Dentsu is a partner of Joost they look after the ads for them with Joost's Japanese content partners who provide Anime and Japanese game shows to Joost .

Joost has changed its strategy recently and is moving to devices like their iPhone app and various hardware devices are starting to support the service also .

The original Joost client UI that was recently abandoned on the desktop seems to very suited to the Wii Remote so heres hoping Joost and other services like HULU take game consoles like the Wii seriously in the near future and develop for them .
