Here we snow again

Forecast this morning on GMA says snow is to start around midnight and get heavier throughout the morning.

Not sure what totals were predicted for my area of Suffolk - I shut the television off. I don't want to know. :)

So! What's going to happen by you?

OT: I am thinking of hiring someone to clean our driveway this go around. It took us hours after the last storm and it just kept blowing back while we were shoveling. I love that my home is st back from the road but unfortunately that makes for a long drive way.
About 5 cars long, two across except up at the garage where it is 3 across. It has to be shoveled in 3 "stripes" but a couple of passes with a small plow on a pickup or ATV does the trick very nicely.

I am going to check out craigslist since last time I read tons of ads but a day late. I never thought to check.

Anyone for see an issue with hiring someone from craigslist? I never did that before so I am asking before hand.

You must change one letter only, and rearrange to form a new word.

Anyone have last month's ConEd bill handy?

I'm interested in the gas charges, particularly the per-therm rate. On this sample bill, it's the third page I'm looking for.

Just trying to guess my bill for next month in advance. :(

Mattress Shopping Fears

one of the passages to adulthood has gotta be when
you are ready to choose and buy your own mattress.

I'm ready to "grow up" but dread going to some showroom,
and having some bored sale person hovering over me while
I try to relax and feel various mattress price range models.

where would you go to mattress shop in the 5 Boros,
not necessarily for the best deal, but least hassle.

what is mattress shopping etiquette? what should I wear?
can I take my shoes off (keep socks on) while I test them?
should I keep my belt off? can I bring my own pillow?
beyond common sense - how should I "test" a mattress?

are there web sights that equate one mattress brand/model
with another? I hear the scam is to use different names at
different mattress chains so it's impossible to comparison shop.

[OT] CUNY denies my application

So basically I can't attend CUNY because the school I graduated from "CONTINENTAL ACADEMY" is not recognized by them maybe they lost their accreditations. But a friend of mine graduated from the same school, but attended a SUNY school first then transfered to CUNY without any problems.

Anyone knows what I can do ?

Hello,

Thank you for your recent email.

The City University of New York accepts high school diplomas from schools that have regional, not trans-regional accreditation. Since the school in which you graduated from is not accredited by one of the regional associations that CUNY recognizes, we would require a US GED. Upon receipt of these scores we will be able to complete the review of your application for admission to our Universities.

Should you require further assistance or information, you may contact us again via Email at aonline@mail.cuny.edu. Please remember to include the reference number in the subject line of all future communications.

Sincerely,

Anthony L

Tips on searching for job, resume, cover letter, etc

I recently submitted my resume for a critique to a website called www.getinterviews.com/ because I saw it on a Dice.com newsletter. Anyways I'm aware their job is to sell their service to me, but they did mention a few things that I looked up and that seem very much that my resume is lacking. Among these recommendations was to use a Summary section rather than an Objective, use less bullets (apparently I used too many), using more buzz words, and going with accomplishments-based rather than task-based descriptions in my work history. So now I'm sort of stuck. I had my resume reviewed by the career services department at my university. Well after looking up the recommendations I'm realizing that a lot of sites say the same thing. I don't know what to do now with my resume. This job search is becoming a nightmare. Can anyone help me? Any guidance would go a long way. I was thinking of paying for the service but a quick google search tells me not to, plus I can't really pay since I don't have the money.

I've applied to a few jobs the last few months (though not nearly enough as I should have because I was still in school and had too much on my plate to handle; job searching is a job in and of itself) and I haven't really gotten any responses back. The few I heard back from said I was not qualified, and the one interview I had I bombed because it was for a position beyond my capabilities.

Anyways, I've attached my resume with personal info taken out. I'm hoping someone is nice enough to help me, maybe set me on the right path.

[Travel] JFK long term parking safety

Bummer... I will be flying from this airport soon and none of my family or friends can drop me off there. Looks like I'll be parking one of my vehicles at the long term lot for about a week. Expensive yes, but necessary.

Can anyone speak for safety at the official long term lot off Lefferts Boulevard? Are cars frequenly vandalized or broken into there?

getting married and need a church.

Hi all,

I'm getting married soon and would like to know if any of you know of a church where we can use for our ceremony without the obligation of becoming a member of that church. I know that most places of worship do not allow those who aren't members use their place for such ceremonies. Thanks!
