what does the LiveType update do? Does it make it fast on G5's?

Unfortunately I have no G5's to try it out on. Maybe someone who got the update will post.

All I see on the Apple site is:

FCP HD 4.5 Performance Enhancements
* Improved OpenGL and AltiVec processing.
* Detect 4 or more gigabytes of RAM properly.

Im not understanding this FCP update. Is it so that people who have High Def cameras can use FCP now? What If I use a GL2, will that export higher def? Is it mostly for those who have HD camera? I understand that Livetype and HD is more integrated, but is that all?

There's a few "prosumer" cameras that have an HD mode. I'm shopping (kind of set on a PD-150 if I can find one) and I remember seeing both a Panasonic and a JVC that touted themselves as "High Definition" cameras. I would guess that FCP now allows working in various HD formats, and more specifically probably supports those new cameras as well as pro HD cameras like the Panavision/Sony combo.
