Re: Strange noise - maybe hard drive?

Isn't Mozilla 1.7 still in Beta? Why would AOL be building software based on something still in Beta?

Isn't that the same thing as saying "Why would anyone use Windows". Yet, there it is, on tens of millions of home and corporate desktops, worldwide.

Maybe AOL plans to base Netscape on Mozilla after 1.7 is out of beta. Sounds logical to me..

1.7 should be out of beta in short order (was actually targeted for final on 4/14 originally). The only stuff left to tidy up is fairly innocuous and/or cosmetic, and the 1.8 tree is already rolling (tentatively due in July).

Games. You get a few games in Linux and a few for the Mac but Windows rules the gaming world.

Actually, it was more commentary on modern software in general. So much of it seems to be "beta quality" that the "beta" term seems to have little meaning, any more. Businesses and home users have gotten so used to garbage code, that practically ANYTHING is acceptabel, whether it has the "beta" label or is a "final release".
