Ok, the \inf is a "hidden" directory.
To see it:
My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > then select "Show hidden files and folders" under "Hidden files and folders". |
|
|
i did unhide all files and folders. I opened the folder inf and i could not find the file msnmsn.inf
I also did a search in that folder and my whole computer to see if I could find the file but i couldnt. |

Do you have your options set to show system files also? That error code means that it cannot fine the file. Have you already deleted it manually? |

Do you have a msnmsn.inf in the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder? If so try copying the msnmsn.inf from the C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder to the C:\WINDOWS\inf folder. |

Try extracting from the WinXP CD:
Insert your WinXP CD and open a Command Prompt (Start > Run > CMD)
Then enter the following command:
EXPAND -R X:\I386\MSNMSN.IN_ %Systemroot%\Inf
Where 'X' is the letter of your CD drive
Then try using Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components again. |
