Since the default is strict, we could use this to open up certain ports for, say, tools used by an engineering group for example. Otherwise, once everyone in that group updated they would come running and say "X" doesn't work anymore! And we would have to go around one by one and allow the ports or send an email with instructions on how to do so. |

 | reply to astamand I have been considering running the SP2 beta on my laptop. Can anyone share their experiences regarding the stability and compatibility of the current beta. Any problems that they have had which they can share with the group here would be appreciated.
Also, does anyone know how easy it is to uninstall the current SP2beta? How easy and problem free will it be to upgrade to the production code when released? -- Info Network Security:»www.packetdefense.com |

That is exactly what I did lestat99. The installation is easy and it forces you to create the backup files so that it can be uninstalled. the option to not archive the files was grayed out, most likely since this is still beta.
The only issue I had with it is that it took FOREVER to install.
Other than that it's cool. You get a pop up blocker and a improved firewall. Plus you get other security fixes that they have not released to the GP yet.
No performance issues thus far. |

Been running it on two Dell laptops and one desktop since it came out and I have yet to encounter a problem. Uninstall is easy (add Remove)and I have tried it. You will have to remove the beta before installing the final release. -- Hug a PitBull Today! |

 | reply to BIGMIKE I could barely understand what you said, but I don't think I agree with you. The government has nothing to do with this. |

That's correct. They need you to have a backup because everyone will have to uninstall the beta version before they can update to the final SP2. Us poor beta testers have to uninstall every build before we can update to the new one. |
