just to clarify - those are megabytes, not megabits.

Just from my desk at work.. though I do have 1.5/1.5 fiber at home (Brambleton in Loudoun County, Virginia - first full community with FTTH for voice, data, tv) - I get basically 1.3/1.5 realistically. I believe they're going to offer 3/3 soon, which would be nice.

You No. Virgian's get to have all the fun up there. Us down here in Richmond always get left out because Verizon is always catering to the Govt. and Politicians up there.

Maybe one day Verizon will get us some fiber down here. It is really annoying that they will not do anything for us.

I figured you guys down there would do almost as well and Northern Virginia. With all the military down there.

I can't even get DSL any faster than 768/128.
I live close to Christopher Newport University and they have a lot new construction going on.
I figure that Verizon should be bending over backwards to accommodate the college with better DSL speeds and maybe, just maybe, fiber.

NICE!
FIOS [Verizon Fiber] is in trials nearby and should be available by 2006. James, what kind of link does your employer have? I co-locate with a Swedish firm to get 100mbit backbone connected speeds via Bonet.SE. It's costing a small fortune, so I had to go into the deal with a few friends, and can't wait for Verizon Fiber to be available here.

In any case --- NICE! ---
