Nope.

I too had the same problem - in bad weather the modem would loose connection every 10 minutes and on good days it may stay up for 3-4 days. My nortel modem never had this issue.

I called support and they sent me the new 5200 modem.

I believe the problem was with the Ethernet port hangin on the modem since the ADSL light was on, but neither my router or my computer could talk to the modem. The new 5200 has been working great for over a week now (seems faster too!)

(Update_E240_A4R_BC34_f093_v2r_UPDATED_INSTALLER.exe)
Greetings,

For those of you, who have loaded other non-Sympatico firmware and would like to upgrade to this one; here's modified installer that doesn't check what software you're currently running, but make sure you do have the correct modem connected to the computer, which is stated in the first post of this thread because this installer won't care whether you have E242 or E771(6300) connected, it will let you update and it will upload the firmware so please, be very careful how you use it. Removal of this check required extensive changes, and it will overwrite newer firmware too, so make sure you firmware isn't current than this.

Good luck!

I'm guessing this probably has nothing to do with this particular thread but in one of the mid pages of this whole thread mentions something about bridge mode. when i installed all of this i got curious (hence the name) about the bridge mode and when i turned it on i wasn't able to connect anymore. i had to find a new way and that was the access manager or the thingy for windows xp. that apparently worked exactly like the before-i-messed-it-up-and had-to-find-a-new-way-to-connect way only i had to connect like i do in a dial up connection and I've seen my download speed drop down to around 60kb/s but went back up with time (i never saw it because i decided to do something while i waited for it). this never happened with the "before-i-messed-it-up-and had-to-find-a-new-way-to-connect way"(great name isn't it?...:p). anyways i got it fixed by finding the reset switch at the BOTTOM of the modem when i kept looking at the BACK...um...yeah...anyhoo..my question for the day is if theres actually a difference between the two (ways of connecting) besides the fact that i couldn't access the web interface, connecting was different, and there were drops in speed, and some disconnects? (um...yeah sorry for this long inquiry (at least it's what i think it's called...:D) and um...yeah...I've never posted on forums before and I'm just a curious 13 year old boy who has more knowledge about computers than my family so don't scream at me please:D)

After suffering for months of the now infamous "synch but no surf issue" and having to reboot 3 to 5 times a day, I finally convinced myself that it was worth trying the firmware upgrade from dslreports.

One word: A M A Z I N G.

The upgrade took just a few seconds and voilà, my connection has been rock solid since I did the upgrade 10 days ago. THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting such a wonderful piece of software - best firmware upgrade I ever did!

I just wish that Sympatico customer service reps knew about this.

Re: Speedstream 5200 Updated Firmware HERE

I upgraded the modem firmware and then later disabled PPPoE
login on my Linksys BEFSR41 router and enabled it on the modem. I found that webpages seemed to take much longer to load when I did that. When I did the tweak test on DSL Reports it kept telling me I had to raise my MTU to 1500 even when I modified it with TCP Optimiser and Dr. TCP. I went back to enabling PPPoE on my Linksys and now my surfing is faster and the tweak test is back to what it was.

Anyone else noticed a similar problem? Also, is there any advantage to using PPPoE on the modem instead of the router?

Just so you know you shouldn't use 1500 MTU with Sympatico. It's all relative to your ISP, most cable companies use 1500. Sympatico uses 1492.

Please repost, some of us desperately need this firmware that does not check the previous version.

Look two posts above yours. See what is there? If not, here it is again.

Unfortunately our moderators do not allow for posting of such "modified" firmware, even if its for Bell Sympatico users benefit.

Re: Speedstream 5200 Updated Firmware HERE

I'm going to close this thread now because it's getting too long and complicated.

But please feel free to start a new thread and reference this one if you like. Thanks!
