I have the Paradyne. And I am kind of glad that I do with the fact I have a long loop length. If they had upgraded their DSLAM in my CO I would probably be out of luck.

Initially shipped me the Paradyne, but I demanded and eventually got the Westell.

The Westell's are capable of normal DSL speeds up to around 8 Mbps. The highest the Paradyne's can go are 960/960. They werre originally installed back when DSL was noew and no one had anything higher than 960. They used them because they were actually able to reach out further distances to people and also to those on bad loops.

Not exactly....the Paradyne 5620 can do up to 7Mbps, it's a RADSL modem (Rate-Adaptive DSL), not Reach DSL. The Reach DSL modems are the ones that go up to 960/960 (Paradyne), and are primarily for long loop lengths.

I have a very close loop to the CO (about 6000ft), which is why I was put on a RADSL Dslam...(of course not every CO has the Cavalier RADSL equipment in them). My connection synchs up at about 6.5-6.8 Mbps, but thanks to the crappy speeds in the Cavalier Philly Hub, I never see above 1.5 Mbps.

I've heard some people in VA that are on the RADSL Dslams, getting almost max throughput, at about 6 Mbps, but no one up here around philly sees that. Hopefully you are a lucky one!

The Paradyne 5620's max is 7.168mbit. I'm at 7000 feet from the CO and getting speed test results of 6.8mbit (sometimes 7.1) down and 1mbit exactly up. On downloads form a good server, I can get 750KB/s at the most. Usually hovers between 720-745KB/s. That's still pretty fast!

RADSL service here in Richmond (23228) so I got the Paradyne 5620 in Nov '03. Attained speeds of 750KB/s download and 128KB/s upload--until one day in late March. From then until now I get 1-1600kbps on the members speed test page, transfer time-outs, irregular ping times to my gateway (10-200ms), and overall erratic as heck performance. Haven't seen 200KB/s in ages. Anyone have anything similar to report?
I posted an extensive report of my experience (minus the intense displeasure at the situation) in the ISP forum. PLEASE if you have anything, ANYTHING you could offer, email me. I've put in to be changed to the ADSL service (which the tech dept claimed got 8m/8m and the customer service rep said 1m/768k... rofl) but I would very much like to get several hundred kilobytes per second again, *cry*.
Regards to all,
Eric

Need some suggestions. I have also the Paradyne modem it works out of the box fine BUT the port is configured only for 10Full, and it needs a crossover cable..? Its totally backwards, I'm thinking of resetting the modem to try to get 100Full and the crossover cable I'm not sure of..

Any other paradyne modem users help...

You will never get 100 full out of it. It is a 10 Megabit port only. It is a hardware limitation. There is no configuration that can be done to it.
