Noise Margin

Does the hot summer days have anything to do with the Noise Margins going down in the late afternoons. I have noticed my N/M going down in the afternoons, then going back up late at night. Varying as much as 20 points, from 28 to 8. Just wondering.

Hi Codyboy99!

I do seem to have that problem here. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will jump in and help.

Just wanted to let you know that not everyone experiences your problem. But to be honest, if it doesn't effect anything, don't worry about it.

Best wishes!

Bob

Bob, it does not affect anything because I never lose sync. Just wondering why this was happening since I upgraded to the FastAccess Xtreme.

If the noise margins dip below 6 dB, your circuit will probably be susceptible to increased CRC errors (or at least that is what I found when I had that noise margin swing problem). Actually several of us on SBC RT's had a similar problem late last winter. In our case, the NM levels also decayed with time ultimately resulting in sync loss. We were all on 6016/608 speed packages.
