It will wipe out your configuration but clean out any dependencies on previous firmware version. After you've done that, simply re-enter your configuration and and see if it fixes your DDNS issue. |

 | after few hours the surfing has become much slower and the router froze a few hours ago i have done a reset and restore to factory defaults still slowly i'll keep trying for one more day |

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR RESULTS HERE Thank You ! At least I can surf again after .18 (Linksys did not even respond to my e-mail after complaining.) I guess they are just making too much money.

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR RESULTS HERE 1.51.00 seems the best of the batch to me.
DDNS seems OK, tracert is OK.
First hit to »linksys-befsx41-ethe....html long url causes immediate crash of router with logging enabled (nothing is seen in the log...no surprise). With logging disabled, I can hit any of Flogator's test URLs several times with no crashes.
I haven't tried the VPN functionality with 1.51.00 yet.
Flogator: many thanks for your leadership on the issue of BEFSX41 firmware. Linksys tech. support is woeful so Linksys owes you...big time. I hope that THEY realise this! |

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R said by BEFSX41 User: I play a couple of online games which one of them happens to be Counter-Strike. After flashing to this firmware, I can play for about 1 minute before I'm kicked out of the game with random errors messages.. I flashed back to 1.45.7 and now back to working normally
I experience this same error with counter-strike, flashed back to 1.50.18 and it works again. 1.51 is not compatible with Counter-Strike, wow. |

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR RESULTS HERE yea everything seems to be working fine accept Counter-strike (i say everything cuz i dont really use the other features people have problems with )
Im addictited to CS so i must flash back to older firmware. Im gonna keep checking back here tho, if this problem is fixed ill be all over this firmware :P
BTW. counter-strike uses port 27015 (usually) for its servers. Get some very weird errors in console with this firmware (cs related tho) |

FlogatorPremium,MVM join:2003-01-19 Cantley, QC kudos:1 | reply to Flogator Here is another mystery solved. Back in firmware 1.50.18, I have reported that the bug called "VPN broken when remote gateway set to Any" was back. Well, perhaps a bit more testing would have shed the light as to what was going on. I have done some experiments to discover that when the "Remote Security Gateway" and the "Remote Secure Group" fields are set to "Any", you must enable the "IPSec Pass-Through" option in order for the VPN tunnel to work properly. If you disable "IPSec Pass-Through", then your VPN tunnel will not come up at all.
Until Linksys fixes this problem, you need to have the "IPSec Pass-Through" option enabled in order to get VPN to work . I will report this finding to Linksys in the morning. |

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R quote: Can I see your config file?
I believe this is probably the line you're having trouble with:
## To obtain an IP address from FW status page (using fw-login, fw-password) use=fw, fw=10.0.0.1/RouterStatus.htm, fw-skip='WAN.*?IP Address' # found after IP Address
Notice that in this firmware (and 1.50.18, for that matter) that the Status page is "RouterStatus.htm," not "Status.htm," as in previous versions. So you're not confused, I use the 10.0.0.x range for my network, not 192.168.1.x. |

| reply to Flogator I just upgraded to this firmware. Everything seems okay except the following:
DDNS doesn't work correctly. It keeps telling me Authorization fails(username or passwords). Worked with 1.45.7
Yahoo Messenger 6 keeps loosing connection. I'll see it keep reconnecting about once a minute. No problem with 1.45.7
When viewing the router pages, it's very slow, just as it was with 1.50.18. No problems with 1.45.7
Ping/tracert seem fine, however once in awhile, tracert seems to take forever. Again, no problems with 1.45.7
Long URL does crash the router.
I haven't had any other issues as of yet. I'm going to stick with this for a while, and see what else happens. If I notice any other issues, I'll post them, and probably switch back to 1.45.7. |

Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR RESULTS HERE upgraded to this firmware.
internet usage was fine.
gaming usage was not. I kept lagging out everytime i try to get on. i would be able to play for 2 mins then it kicks me. (FFXI)
went back to 1.45.7, worked fine since. |
|
 | reply to Alpheratz I have now tried to establish a VPN...seems OK, with the exception noted by Flogator just now: the "IPSec Pass-Through" option must be enabled.
This is such a mess...whatever happened to QA at Linksys? |
|
MrMoke join:2002-06-06 Austin, TX | I don't think that Linksys ever had a QA department. Remember that everything Linksys sells is OEM'd from some other company, so any QA would be spread across several different companies. That usually just leads to excessive finger pointing. Thankfully, Flogator seems to have found a chink in their ambivalence armor, or we might never see anything from them. |

I had the same issue with Counterstrike. Not acceptable at all since I enjoy playing CS with friends online. Flashed back and no issues. Don't understand why it would kill CS. |

 | yes!!! the 1.45.7 is better (in my opinion) then 1.51 the router froze a couple of times and the sites once came and once didn't so i'm back to 1.45.7 and it's better |

| reply to Flogator I won't be able to test this till monday, but I have a question for others....
Do you still have to disable Advanced Hardware Firewall in order for Filter "Blocking by Keywords" to be properly displayed in the Firewall Logs? (If not, you don't know which filter 'tripped').
