I can't believe how far the entertainment industry has gone. I'm creating a new company where people can download music for free consent from the artist this summer. If anyone is interested in being one of the artist featured let me know. -- Don't get a Dell they suck get an Apple they're reliable, cheap, and can keep you full.Your friendly computer genius since 1990--
| | | Re: This is SAD! The biggest problem is the name of this thing. It's very misleading calling it the "Pirate Act". File sharing is in no way shape or form piracy. If anything, it is copyright infringement.
Damn politicians and the names they give these damn bills to make them sound more appealing to the general public. Pirate Act, Patriot Act, etc..etc... Very misleading names. I mean, who would vote against something called the Pirate Act based on name alone? Most people figure "well..piracy is wrong, this is a good law...blah blah blah..."
Where does it end?!?!?!?!?!?

It ends (at least in the eyes of the Entertainment industry) when P2P is wiped off the planet and everybody starts buying overpriced, crappy DRMed tunes from "online music stores"

that is the whole point! to make you pay as much as possible. if you have no alternative, no way of attaining free music, you will pay anything. that's right! even 19.95-29.95 per music album is nothing to them, like a goldmine for the riaa/mpaa. btw, you all going to have to work your ass off for some lousy music!

It's quite creative if you ask me this is how it works. I get consent from amateur artist to put their music on my website and they can download it for free, then people download it, if they like it they can donate money to the artist. I can maintain the website by advertising if there are enough people on the website... -- Don't get a Dell they suck get an Apple they're reliable, cheap, and can keep you full.Your friendly computer genius since 1990--

I would prefer a old style napster like system. Advertisement panels or such and included in the zip file that each track comes in is a small amount of info about the artist and metatag it with places to purchase their tracks. -- This package does not contain a winner...
