Happyrat : Frankly I think if your biggest concern is having your images stolen, then why are you effectively publishing them to public domain in a thread like this in the first place? Let's face it people, if you expect to get paid for an image, you'd never release it for public use on a forum like this. Either decide if you want to freely release an image or else don't bother posting a "crippled" image that no one can use.

Cryptic24 : Someone posted a link to a group of pictures and this was one of them. When I found it, it had a plain white background and it looked good, just not great. So I added the gradient background and I think it made the image jump out more. I made it in 1440x900 so it would fit my laptop screen.

CjGaughan : Here's one more...not standard size..but it was one of those awesome 'lucky' shots.

There's a lot that can be played around with here to do with color as well.

the original looks great...this one is changed up a bit with photoshop...added a bit more red..I really like the red pine needles on the path.

These were all taken with my old 2mp crappy HP too.

Newer one takes nicer shots (because of it's custom features and such...and more MP).

I'd really like to get a dSLR some day.

Cryptic24 : I made this wallpaper for a friend. I flipped the pic so that the icons on the desktop would be on the opposite side as the flowers and then did the color and B&W treatment. I made it 1024x768, if you would like it bigger let me know what size you would like.

Dark Shoes : A few pics that make fairly good wallpapers. I like the black sky background of the Venetian. Good contrast for the icons. It's an older pic but the two Florida ones are more recent.

34140721 : The distant island was modeled in World Builder 3.6 and then imported into Vue Esprit 5, where it was rendered along with the sky and the water...

I used digital photos I shot of seagulls, people, near shore, ligthouse, distant rocks and ship... These were all merged into the Vue Esprit render in Paint Shop Pro version 9.0...

I touched up the island using my Wacom tablet and created some of the waves with the tablet...Other waves were from digital photos I shot...

I used Paint Shop Pro & Gimp 2.2 to give the artify look...

tmpchaos : It seems to happen from time to time. A workaround that can minimize the damage is to use the att=x tag, with carriage returns after each. That way, at least, they stack instead of spread.

That is definitely what is happening. Normally where you would have three thumbnails from left to right, there's two or three full-sized images instead.

I deleted a couple of my images that weren't thumb-nailing and re-uploaded them in separate posts. That seems to have reduced the margin blowout a little bit.

This failure to thumbnail pics of old posts isn't recent though. I remember about 1-2 months ago a thread in the New York forum started having the exact same problem.

B52GUNR : People, c'mon, is it too much to ask that you not post inline images?

Upload your picture so it doesn't blow out margins and don't just inline it using tags.

Even on my 1600x1200 monitor I have to scroll all over the place.

If we want to see the full size image, let us choose, don't shove it down our throat.

Mauricio9 : I took this picture in Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park (Alberta, Canada). I had driven the 40 km road under the last daylight, looking for wildlife. I did not expect to get any worthwhile landscapes because of the thick cloud cover. Once I made it to the end of the lake, though, a few timid rays of sun pierced the clouds. I quickly set up my tripod and got this image.

EGeezer : My wallpaper for the present time. This is one of the local roads where I ride my bike. It's got a new layer of Macadam. I liked the nice golden touch of the evening sun to the trees and bean fields, so I kept the colors as close as possible what I see when I take that route.

One question though, and pardon my ignorance, but when I click on the posts that have only an image link on them, all I get is a new page with a box with a red X in it. Right clicking on them doesn't bring up a "save as" option. Does anyone know what I can do to get the actual image? I'm using Maxthon as my browser. I don't seem to have this problem on other websites. Thanks.

This is not a race to see who can find the best wallpapers on the web. It is a place to showcase your own abilities as a photographer / artist or combination thereof. 53059959 : oh no I don't bother with nvidia, thats too much trouble. I use 2 video cards (nvidia and ati happily working together) and I use a program called UltraMon 2.5. creates a taskbar on the other monitor, creates new buttons in the top right for easy moving of windows, and you can easily manage dual-monitor screensavers and wallpapers. seti@home looks pretty slick when spanned across 2 monitors. your gonna need a serial or pay for it. serial aint too hard to find though.

I can's speak for CoxCable4, but my son has a set-up using two monitors. The drivers for his nVidia card (which has dual outputs) have the utilies to put different displays on different screens (multiple desktops), and he can take a wide background like the one being used above and spread it across the two desktops.

I went out to water the dogs. It was about 85 degrees and 100% humidity. I'd been watching these big toad stools grow for three days and they looked right. I walked into the airconditioned house and picked up the camera. When I stepped outside with a 70 degree camera into that steambath, everything immediately fogged. I laid down in the grass, set the camera to macro and shot three pics anyway. This one was the best one.

No magic here, just luck.

Me too, and I've been suckered a lot lately. The sunsets have been amazing lately. Glad you enjoy them.

Whenever I'm in SoCal I keep snapping and snapping (there's something really special about California sunsets, isn't there? :) ), and I keep thinking just how many sunset pics do I need?, a sunset is a sunset, but it's not, even just a few minutes later, it's a whole new sunset, just as pretty but completely different. **click** ... **click** ;)

Dark Shoes : I don't know if this has been done before. But this is an image posted by 59678178 in another forum here on BBR awhile back. The crystal blue waters mixed in with actual snow and ice on the slopes is kind of cool. Nice shot for a wallpaper that is worth sharing. :)

Don't always expect a warm welcome either...
The town was the site of a particularly grotesque atrocity during the Prayer Book rebellion of 1549. The English Provost Marshall came to St Ives and invited the mayor, John Payne, to lunch at an inn. He asked the mayor to have the gallows erected during the course of the lunch. Afterwards the mayor and the Provost Marshall walked down to the gallows; the Provost Marshall then ordered the mayor to mount the gallows. The mayor was then hanged for being a Roman Catholic.

This guy led me around all over the place....I bet I walked 1/4 mile trying to get a good shot of him. I'd be setup, about to press the shutter button, and then away he would go...over, and over, and over...well, you get the idea.

Oh, and he would always pick the low grass, so I had to bend over, or crawl on my belly. To beat it all, this was between a 2-lane highway and an interstate--I was in a narrow strip of land about 30-50 feet wide. I provided great afternoon entertainment for passersby.

34140721 : I modelled the tower and near landscape in Wings3D. They were then imported into Vue D'Esprit and textured. Distant terrains and water was created in Vue. Using several layers in Paint Shop Pro ver 7 I created the mist effect....

Not sure what it's called, but they used to tie barges to these things along the river when steel was big in Pittsburgh (there is part of a decaying factory behind it in the trees). This one is along an inlet right by the highway, and I had driven past a dozen times thinking I should stop and take the picture....
The other day I stopped and spent a half hour with the tripod taking pictures, I was even rousted by the local police because I was taking photos near a bridge :) (they were cool about it once they realized what I was doing).
Anyhow, tonight is the first chance I've had to look at the pictures, and this was the first one that caught my eye. Bright mid-morning sun just above a thin cloudy haze gave pretty rich lighting, I just really liked the effect.

Sholnay : Not to crap on anyones post, but come on guys... this is a wallpaper thread. climbers asked us in the beginning to post pictures above 800x600, we even have permission from mods!!! Tik, that lighthouse pictures you posted is fantastic, but hardly wallpaper size! What is that, 800x600 max? I know the DiMAGE z1 is not vga quality :D

Anyway, I know I could just ask each of you individually to send over a larger copy, but, well, I cant be the only one that would love larger format, lets eliminate the middle man and post some large wallpapers. Honestly, 1600x1200 should be the norm because it can be sized down easily enough, but at the least these pics should be upped @ 1024x768.

Everyone that has posted a large picture in this thread should know that I have downloaded your image and rotate my background almost daily. This thread is just fantastic, and I hate seeing such wonderful pics that are so small :(

Anyway, enough of that. I kindly ask that future photos be upped in large format, otherwise, its not really a wallpaper.

anon : Here is a pic I took with my 35mm Olympus XA2 in 1999 when vacationing in Colorado. I use this as a wallpaper on and off since. I had the film developed and placed directly onto one of those KODAK CD's
